A witch raised in a cage of darkness... Savannah Cross was born into a life of isolation and abuse. As a child, she witnessed her parents perform acts of malevolent evil, and now feels permanently tainted by their dark deeds. When a coven discovers a tear stricken child, wounded on their elders lawn, they offer her a sanctuary she has never known. Savannah spends the next several years shattered, continuously looking over her shoulder, waiting for the darkness to claim her. On her 16th birthday, Savannah's life takes a drastic turn. She is consumed by overwhelming power that forever alters her emotionally and physically. She must choose between two loves; the one who taught her to smile or the darkly seductive stranger who tempts her towards another path. Savannah must decide between the coven that was her haven and another one vying for her initiation. Just as Savannah begins to grasp what fate has in store for her, an evil looms over her loved ones; coming to claim an unbreakable debt. How will she survive the greatest evil she has ever witnessed... long enough to have a choice to make?

""It turns out that life as a human person isn't as easy as some people might lead you to believe. During the last couple of years, my main way of dealing with negative feelings has been writing poems and stories as a way to understand my feelings or start thinking about something different."" This book is a collection of stories, poems, and personal anecdotes written by a teenager struggling with life. They go far beyond that, though: They're deep, weird, confusing, they're emotional. But together, they tell a story of a young person trying to understand the world.

ISAAC Getting kicked out of the army was the worst day of my life. I never thought I'd find direction again, until my brother suggested I prospect for the Black Death Riders Motorcycle Club. I wanted brotherhood, loyalty, and respect. I didn't expect to find him. Thanatos. He's the devil on a steel horse and I'm falling for him. He has demons, a darkness caging him that I can't break through. If I'm not careful, he might drag us both into the abyss. THANATOS Ever since my sister was killed, I've been on a path of self-destruction. They don't call me after Death for no reason. I've slain more men than I can count, and I did it with a smile. I'm broken, destroyed, living in torment and I don't deserve one moment of happiness--until Isaac walks into my life, and I find I want all of that and more. But my path of destruction has put my club on the radar of people who will kill us all without a second thought. I never considered the consequences of my war with them, until Isaac got in their path. Now, the only good thing I've ever had in my life might be taken from me, and there's nothing I can do about it. *Warning : Contains adult content, reading age 18 +. The present volume has come about through an awareness of the absence of any cohesive and substantive source on the treatment of cognitive dysfunction following brain insult. I initiated the devel opment of our annual symposium Models and Techniques of Cognitive Rehabilitation, on which the present volume is based, so as to educate myself, as well as others, about the state of the art in modifying cognitive processes in the brain, injured. I became aware of the need for interventive strategies for the brain, injured while a graduate student. Brain functions had, for a long time, always fascinated me, but from an academic perspective. I was confronted with the clinical consequences of brain injury while administering batteries of neuro psychological tests, and this experience added another dimension to my interest in brain functions. I felt grossly inadequate because I was able to rather eloquently describe changes in brain-behavior relations with neuropsychological tests, but could only generate re commendations based solely on the use of compensatory strategies and occasionally on some unfounded, and probably naive, remedial guess. A literature search at this time yielded devastating, little informa tion. The next several years were characterized by a pseudo-obsession, occurring at times without total awareness, with methods and tech niques which might alter impaired brain-behavior relations. Completing graduate school, however, required that these thoughts take a secondary position relative to more typical graduate student thoughts.

Seneca's Letters to Lucilius are a rich source of information about ancient Stoicism, an influential work for early modern philosophers, and a fascinating philosophical document in their own right. This selection of the letters aims to include those which are of greatest philosophical interest, especially those which highlight the debates between Stoics and Platonists or Aristotelians in the first century AD, and the issue, still important today, of how technical philosophical enquiry is related to the various purposes for which philosophy is practised. In addition to examining the philosophical content of each letter, Brad Inwood's commentary discusses the literary and historical background of the letters and their relationship with other prose works by Seneca. Seneca is the earliest Stoic author for whom we have access to a large number of complete works, and these works were highly influential in later centuries. He was also a politically influential advisor to the Roman emperor Nero and a celebrated author of prose and verse. His philosophical acuity and independence of mind make his works exciting and challenging for the modern reader. CLARENDON LATER ANCIENT PHILOSOPHERS General Editors: Jonathan Barnes and A. A. Long This series is designed to encourage philosophers and students of philosophy to explore the fertile terrain of later ancient philosophy. The texts range in date from the first century BC to the fifth century AD, and will cover all the parts and all the schools of philosophy. Each volume contains a substantial introduction, an English translation, and a critical commentary on the philosophical claims and arguments of the text. The translations aim primarily at accuracy and fidelity; but they are also readable and accompanied by notes on textual problems that affect the philosophical interpretation. No knowledge of Greek or Latin is assumed.
