While Joyce Coy was recreating mosaics of her adventures with words, she pictured her grandchildren from ages 7 to 25 who often asked, “Gramma, tell us a story about you.” Joyce has included naughty moments, the yearning and search to know God, and the tug of war between fears and faith. She has also given peeks into the cultural backdrop of the farming society of her youth in the 60’s and 70’s. Her wobbly times showcase God meeting her in specific ways. She unwraps the reality that Father God made a way through the unknowns of her life. His steady influence increased her trust. Even when her dearest love, her husband, had a sudden departure to heaven, Joyce could say, “It’s well with my soul, it’s okay.” Her objective in unzipping her heart is that each reader, youth or adult, will be supported on their personal footpath in knowing Him. What God has done for a modest grandma, He can also do for you.

From the author of Crafting Gratitude, a resource that “provides good medicine for the soul and the elixir of hope for the spirit” (Spirituality & Practice). In a world that feels increasingly fragile, people will continue to look for new prayers and new ways to pray. While there are a number of anthologies of prayer available, no book—until now—has attempted to provide a collection that focuses specifically on prayers for a wide range of modern challenges, from the personal to the global. Prayers for Hope and Comfort covers issues facing individuals (illness, addiction); those challenged in relationships (aging parents, divorce); local communities (natural disasters, unemployment); the larger world (poverty, hunger, war); and creation itself (loss of rainforests, species extinction, global warming). Prayers for Hope and Comfort offers readers solace, comfort, and hope, drawing from the wisdom of every era, every major faith and tradition, and the important voices of those who have lived through such experiences themselves. The book contains selections from some of the world’s most profound poets and thinkers: David Whyte, Eckhart Tolle, Sister Joan Chittister, and Martin Luther King, Jr. as well as traditional prayers and verses from every time and place. Named one of the Best Spiritual Books of the Year by Spirituality & Practice

The author of this book loves to write many different types of poetry; she’s fondest of free verse, sonnets, narratives, true to life episodes and limericks with funny antics. Throughout the book she writes on her love of nature’s elements and all living things. The first poem is written in relation to her belief that all people have a beautiful mind; that anyone on our vast global planet can be beautiful in any given situation. The concept of writing in this style gives her the freedom to reach into the vastness of the unknown and also into the reality of our environmental situation. Rain or shine, she conjures her love of natural wonders in the mind’s eye. Some may say that she can bring beauty into anyone’s perceptional view. Eve bears a humorous and cheerful attitude. Her love of writing in any given form shows her appreciation of being open-minded and her enthusiasm shines from every word.

"The Miracle of the Wine is a volume of my spiritual poetry between Passion Week 2002 to Christmas 2005. The title commemorates the first miracle of Jesus where he turned water to wine in a wedding reception. So, he turned something that's common, ubiquitous, and transparent to something that's extraordinary, colorful and wanted. I think that I'm in the same process." Sincerely, James James Shin, who has cerebral palsy, grew up in Ohio. He received his BS in Business at Long Beach State seven years after he graduated from high school. While he was pursuing his MBA at CSULB, Lord Jesus spoke to him through his mother to go to church or to be in a church-like group. So he began the search. The search ended when Rev. James Kang came into the dorms. He said that Jesus was the way, and that Rev. Kang was in a part of the para-church group called Navigators. He told James that Billy Graham started this group. After a month, he gave his heart to Jesus. After he graduated with MBA three years later, James pursued a job through the Department of Rehabilitation. It took him eight years and another four years of ordeal to have 'a job'. While these processes were going on, James wrote the poetry of the book. James wrote the book of poetry to model after Psalms. He is working as an assistant to the accounting department for the Disneyland Resort which" he calls the Happiest Place on Earth."
