“When bad sex happens to good people, there is no recourse like full disclosure,” is the motto of Worst Laid Plans, a collection of forty probably-too-intimate, but shockingly funny, true-life tales of lust gone wrong. The stories are divided into themed sections including Foreign Affairs (“When bad sex goes abroad”), Self-Help (“Love thyself…but do it carefully”), On the Rebound (“The art of getting back in-and-out-there”), Mob Mentality (People will do things in groups they would never do alone”), and The End of Innocence (“A memorial to virginity”) among others. The book evolved out of a storytelling event originally staged at Upright Citizen Brigade, the highly influential comedy organization co-founded by Amy Poehler, who along with Janeane Garofalo and SNL’s Casey Wilson, performed at the show that continues today. Part Vagina Monologues, part car crash, and wholly hilarious, the volume features contributions from shameless actors, comedians, and writers who will shamelessly spread the word via blogs, on-line videos, tweets, on-going WLP performances, film/TV/media contacts, and further sexual conquests. “[A] hilarious testimonial to the vast array of consequences we face after having ignored that little voice inside that says: ‘Don’t.’ ‘This isn’t a good idea.’ ‘Leave now.’” —Laraine Newman (Saturday Night Live, The Groundlings) “Irrefutable evidence that one should wait until marriage to have sex.” —Joel McHale (The Soup, Community) “This book will make you laugh, scream, and want to be a lesbian.” —Whitney Cummings (Chelsea Lately, Comedy Central) “This is the best kind of comedy; that which makes you both laugh and erect.” —Rob Corddry (The Daily Show)

High school senior Keely Collins takes on firsts, lasts, and everything in between in this sweet, sex-positive rom-com for fans of Meg Cabot and Jenny Han. It seemed like a good plan at first. When the only other virgin in her group of friends loses it at Keely's own eighteenth birthday party, she's inspired to take things into her own hands. She wants to have that experience too (well, not exactly like that--but with someone she trusts and actually likes), so she's going to need to find the guy, and fast. Problem is, she's known all the boys in her small high school forever, and it's kinda hard to be into a guy when you watched him eat crayons in kindergarten. So she can't believe her luck when she meets a ridiculously hot new guy named Dean. Not only does he look like he's fallen out of a classic movie poster, but he drives a motorcycle, flirts with ease, and might actually be into her. But Dean's already in college, and Keely is convinced he'll drop her if he finds out how inexperienced she is. That's when she talks herself into a new plan: her lifelong best friend, Andrew, would never hurt or betray her, and he's clearly been with enough girls that he can show her the ropes before she goes all the way with Dean. Of course, the plan only works if Andrew and Keely stay friends--just friends--so things are about to get complicated. Cameron Lund's delightful debut is a hilarious and heartfelt story of first loves, first friends, and first times--and how making them your own is all that really matters.

Have you ever set out to have a one night stand with a sexy stranger? No? I'm the only one? Just kidding, I would never. Ever. Not usually. But then I figured, why not? My entire life I've been good and it's gotten me nowhere. No job. No apartment. No boyfriend. I'm owed a little fun, aren't I? A reward for being good. Sure, a new pair of shoes would be more appropriate, but Mr. Sexy Stranger is more appealing. And when he speaks-in that British accent-it's a done deal. Every American woman has a hot British guy fantasy. Well, most do. I haven't taken a poll or anything, but I'm pretty sure it's a fact. Except... You know that saying about best-laid plans? Good, because I don't either, but I assume they go awry. Like my one night stand...

*** LARGE PRINT EDITION *** WINNER - Bisexual Book Awards, Erotica FINALIST - EPIC Award, Erotica FINALIST - Holt Medallion, Extra Spicy/Erotica After years of trying to complete their family, Gabe and Shahid are at the end of their tether. When yet another adoption falls through, Gabe is ready to give up. Shahid isn't far behind him. Apparently being a gay couple-half of which is Muslim-is just one strike too many. Then their friend Kendra suggests carrying their baby for them. None of them like the odds or invasiveness of IVF, but there is one other method they could use. Though Shahid is gay, Gabe is bi, and they both quickly warm up to the idea. Especially when they realize just how much chemistry they have with her. It's a simple plan-Kendra will have the baby, they'll all share parenting responsibilities, and the means of conception will be a hell of a lot more fun than adoption paperwork or medical procedures. As things heat up between Kendra and Gabe, though, Shahid's long-buried insecurities about being with a bisexual man bubble to the surface. When some medical news stops everything in its tracks, they realize just how many emotions are involved. And no matter how they play this, one person might be left out in the cold. This 80,000 word novel was previously published.

This intriguing and informative probe into the dynamics of unintended consequences reveal the real reasons our best laid plans often go askew in our political, business, and personal lives. Historian and author Daniel Boorstin noted, "The unintended consequences of man's enterprises have and will always be more potent, more widespread, and more influential than those he intended." Today, a Google web search for "unintended consequences" summons nearly two million pages citing the unexpected impacts of government policies, new technologies, management decisions, and the actions of individuals. Unfortunate unintended consequences are becoming increasingly problematic as our world becomes globally and electronically interconnected, causing the results of our decisions to resonate across the globe. In Best Laid Plans, the author examines how any action can have cascading impacts across time, place, and sector, explaining the eight social mechanisms of unintended consequences that complicate matters and often defeat best laid plans. This book will be of great interest to managers, analysts, researchers, or other employees working for businesses, governments, and not-for-profit organizations, as well as general nonfiction readers who delight in learning about how the world works.

'I couldn't put this down.' - Lauren Sams 'Georgie writes about the moments in life when we say, 'It wasn't supposed to be like this' - and then tells us why we must carry on.' - Ella Ward, author 'An amazing look at modern life and how to thrive within it.' - Jacqui Lewis, The Broad Place From journalist, author and podcaster Georgie Abay, Best Laid Plans is an honest and frank look at how life often plays out like trying to walk in a straight line after ten margaritas. Prior to founding her own media company (The Grace Tales, a lifestyle platform for mothers) Georgie was the Deputy Editor at Australian Vogue. Over two decades as a journalist, Georgie interviewed hundreds of people from all over the globe and shared their stories, all while living her own personal version of Plan B. What she learnt through her own experience and those candid discussions is that how we choose to deal with life's unexpected twists and turns is what defines us, and resilience is everything. Featuring myriad stories about life not going according to plan and what comes next, Best Laid Plans explores how to overcome tragedy, embrace failure, and find the joy when life suddenly turns sour. Sharing Georgie's personal stories and those of many others, these are warm, empathetic and wise chapters on love, grief, career, motherhood and more, offering insight from well-known personalities such as Australian of the Year Grace Tame, writer Pandora Sykes, entrepreneur Jodie Fox, author Aminata Conteh-Biger and actor Teresa Palmer.

Winner of the Mining History Association Clark Spence Award for the Best Book in Mining History, 2017-2018 Brian James Leech provides a social and environmental history of Butte, Montana’s Berkeley Pit, an open-pit mine which operated from 1955 to 1982. Using oral history interviews and archival finds, The City That Ate Itself explores the lived experience of open-pit copper mining at Butte’s infamous Berkeley Pit. Because an open-pit mine has to expand outward in order for workers to extract ore, its effects dramatically changed the lives of workers and residents. Although the Berkeley Pit gave consumers easier access to copper, its impact on workers and community members was more mixed, if not detrimental. The pit’s creeping boundaries became even more of a problem. As open-pit mining nibbled away at ethnic communities, neighbors faced new industrial hazards, widespread relocation, and disrupted social ties. Residents variously responded to the pit with celebration, protest, negotiation, and resignation. Even after its closure, the pit still looms over Butte. Now a large toxic lake at the center of a federal environmental cleanup, the Berkeley Pit continues to affect Butte’s search for a postindustrial future.
