The principles taught in the Unity spiritual community are ancient ideas that run like a thread through most of the world's religions. In this book, longtime minister Paul John Roach takes the five universal principles taught in Unity and looks at how they are expressed in other faith traditions-Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Christianity, and more-with extensive quotes from the luminaries of each religion. An excellent reference book that is also highly readable, Unity and World Religions is a treasure trove of ideas and stories about the many ways human beings relate to the Presence we all feel.

Adolph Moses taught that the true religion of Moses is recognition of the one God for everyone everywhere, not a tribal religion forming the basis for an ethnic state in the Middle East. Moses emphasized the universal nature of Judaism and all true religion. He adopted the term "Yahvism" to emphasize his conviction that Judaism was neither a national nor a tribal religion. He wanted to attract non-Jews to Judaism, and he wanted to lure back Jews who had lost affection for their religion. Most of all he wanted to show that Judaism is a religion for all those who are interested in learning about it, and not a religion exclusively or even primarily for those born as Jews. His vision was a new Church of Humanity grounded in the universal vision of the biblical prophets and based on mutual respect, union and universal love. It is with his universal vision in mind that we present this selection of his writings edited into gender-neutral language, in recognition of Moses's desire to be a light to all people. This edition includes the 1885 Declaration of Principles that became the foundation of what came to be known as "Classical Reform Judaism", along with a new Introduction.

Jesus didn't say that the world would know we are his followers by our biting rhetoric, our political leanings, our charity work, or even by our knowledge of Scripture. He said the world would know us by our love for one another. Yet it's so easy to put others at arm's length, to lash out, to put up walls. Deidra Riggs wants us to put our focus on self-preservation aside and, like Jesus, make the first move toward reconciliation. In One, Riggs shows readers that when Jesus offered himself up in our place, he was not only purchasing our salvation but also setting an example for us to follow. She helps readers understand that they are secure in God's inexhaustible love, making them free to love others lavishly--not just in what they do but in what they say, what they don't say, what they will endure, and what they will forgive. Anyone who longs for unity in the church, in their family, and in their community will find in this book both inspiring examples of loving done well and encouragement to begin the often unnoticed hard work of building bridges with those around them.
