Since my other books, “My Words for Living” and “Travel Safely Within” were published, words have continued to arrive; via pen, pencil, keyboard and dreams, never really stopping. A steady stream of ideas have washed into my consciousness, waiting to be written down and shared. My inspiration continues to be from many sources. This collection is a genuine mix of topics, emotional responses and calls to action. Each poem has a story within its form, of which there are new variants as I continue to experiment and develop as a poet. I have been very fortunate in making new contacts and enjoyed many memorable poetry opportunities. As the reader, please try the words out loud, to help interpret them in your own way. Look for the beginning, middle and end to each story. The meanings might change along with your energy levels and mood but I trust you will find some new favourites amongst “Words on Stony Ground”; poems inspired by life, loss & love.

The US Constitution guarantees the right to the pursuit of happiness. But for most Americans, what this really means is the pursuit of more--more money, more prestige, more stuff. We've made idols out of innovation, growth, power, and wealth. Far from offering us happiness and satisfaction, this relentless pursuit of more has only left us exhausted, isolated, miserable, and wondering if there is a better way. There is. Less of More exposes the American pursuit of more for what it truly is: an attempt to satisfy our souls with the temporary instead of the eternal. Pastor and writer Chris Nye invites us to consider what a full and abundant life looks like apart from money, status, and power. He exposes the lies inherent in our obsession with growth, fame, and wealth, and calls us to a countercultural life marked by connection, obscurity, vulnerability, and generosity. For anyone who has gained the world but lost their soul, Less of More offers a compelling path toward a life of true, deep, lasting satisfaction with Jesus--not us--at the center of it.

Since the publication of the bestselling Sounding the Seasons, Malcolm Guite has repeatedly been asked for more sonnets. This new collection offers a sequence of 50 sonnets that focus on many passages in the Gospels: the Beatitudes, parables and miracles, teachings on the Kingdom, and the ‘hard sayings’ - Jesus’ challenging demands with which we wrestle. In addition this collection includes: •A sequence of seven sonnets on 'The Wilderness', exploring mysterious stories of divine encounter such as Jacob’s wrestling with the angel. •Poetic reflections on music, hospitality and ecology. •Seven short poems celebrating the days of creation. •A biblical index pairing the poems with scripture readings for use in worship.

Hunger for the Word provides weekly reflections on the lectionary readings for Year A from the standpoint of a concern for hunger and justice. Drawing on the insights and stories of pastors, professors, and other theologically grounded people who are active in anti-hunger advocacy through Bread for the Word, Hunger for the Word explores the scriptural witness with an openness to seeing how God's Word can nourish us in the struggle to feed the hungry.
