Have you ever wished you could go somewhere that you have read about or heard about to see for yourself what it is like? That is how this book began. After spending one school year (ten months) on the island of Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands where the reef was part of the back yard and the lagoon was just around the corner, the longing to see the Great Barrier Reef kept creeping in to haunt the author. Over 50 years later, the opportunity came along. There was only one day allotted for the visit to Green Island and that day was one of storm and rough seas. That would not ruin the trip because Jane knew she also had the Sydney Aquarium on her list of places to go. That was great even though the duck-billed platypus was asleep and refused to welcome visitors that day. Since it was their springtime, the spring rains hampered some visits, but that is something you cannot control. The beauty of reading is that you can travel in your imagination, yet be in the comfort of your favorite place to read. With plenty of pictures to help your imagination, sit back and enjoy a trip of a lifetime!

Trilobites were some of the most successful and versatile organisms ever to exist. Among the earliest forms of complex animal life, these hard-shelled marine invertebrates inhabited the primal seas of the Paleozoic Era. Their march through evolutionary time began in the Lower Cambrian, some 521 million years ago, and lasted until their demise at the end of the Permian, more than 250 million years later. During this vast stretch of planetary history, these adaptable animals filled virtually every available undersea niche, evolving into more than 25,000 scientifically recognized species. In Travels with Trilobites, Andy Secher invites readers to come along in search of the fossilized remains of these ancient arthropods. He explores breathtaking paleontological hot spots around the world—including Alnif, Morocco, on the edge of the Sahara Desert; the Sakha Republic, deep in the Siberian wilderness; and Kangaroo Island, off the coast of South Australia—and offers a behind-the-scenes look at museums, fossil shows, and life on the collectors’ circuit. The book features hundreds of photographs of unique specimens drawn from Secher’s private collection, showcasing stunning fossil finds that highlight the diversity, complexity, and beauty of trilobites. Entertaining and informative, Travels with Trilobites combines key scientific information about these captivating creatures with wry, colorful observations and inside stories from one of the world’s most prolific collectors.

Short subject films have a long history in American cinemas. These could be anywhere from 2 to 40 minutes long and were used as a "filler" in a picture show that would include a cartoon, a newsreel, possibly a serial and a short before launching into the feature film. Shorts could tackle any topic of interest: an unusual travelogue, a comedy, musical revues, sports, nature or popular vaudeville acts. With the advent of sound-on-film in the mid-to-late 1920s, makers of earlier silent short subjects began experimenting with the short films, using them as a testing ground for the use of sound in feature movies. After the Second World War, and the rising popularity of television, short subject films became far too expensive to produce and they had mostly disappeared from the screens by the late 1950s. This encyclopedia offers comprehensive listings of American short subject films from the 1920s through the 1950s.

The Manhattan Crisis and Beyond is a realistic fiction grounded in biblical research pertaining to the post-tribulation theory and will appeal to readers interested in eschatological information found in both the Old and New Testaments. New York State Reservist Sergeant Robert Gaines, along with his NYPD partners Sergeant Tom Banks and Officer Pete Gallagher, and a United Nations security officer, Lieutenant Daniel Soto, must face all odds in their rescue attempt to save as many people in Manhattan from the threat of a nuclear attack on the city. With the help of a wealthy Wall Street Broker, Michael Giordano, his family, and other resources, they develop an ingenious full-proof escape plan using the city’s underground transportation system and waterways. After facing multiple challenges while attempting to escape, they finally locate themselves, their families, and their followers on a 1,000-acre mountain ranch in a small, northeast secluded Georgia town where they have a Lodge, several cabins, a medical clinic, and a church. There, they team up with Pastor John Banks, Sheriff Parker, Marine Major Bartlett, the National Guard, and local rebel groups to thwart the Turkish Emperor Salahadin’s Global Peace Keepers’ ambitious plan to invade, as they have done in Europe, major cities within the United States. Throughout the story, this small group of people face all odds in preparing themselves and others to survive the coming devastating end-time signs so that No One is Left Behind!
