Ever since Plato created the legend of the lost island of Atlantis, it has maintained a uniquely strong grip on the human imagination. For two and a half millennia, the story of the city and its catastrophic downfall has inspired people--from Francis Bacon to Jules Verne to Jacques Cousteau--to speculate on the island's origins, nature, and location, and sometimes even to search for its physical remains. It has endured as a part of the mythology of many different cultures, yet there is no indisputable evidence, let alone proof, that Atlantis ever existed. What, then, accounts for its seemingly inexhaustible appeal? Richard Ellis plunges into this rich topic, investigating the roots of the legend and following its various manifestations into the present. He begins with the story's origins. Did it arise from a common prehistorical myth? Was it a historical remnant of a lost city of pre-Columbians or ancient Egyptians? Was Atlantis an extraterrestrial colony? Ellis sifts through the "scientific" evidence marshaled to "prove" these theories, and describes the mystical and spiritual significance that has accrued to them over the centuries. He goes on to explore the possibility that the fable of Atlantis was inspired by a conflation of the high culture of Minoan Crete with the destruction wrought on the Aegean world by the cataclysmic eruption, around 1500 b.c., of the volcanic island of Thera (or Santorini). A fascinating historical and archaeological detective story, Imagining Atlantis is a valuable addition to the literature on this essential aspect of our mythohistory.

The late author Arysio Santos was a highly regarded climatologist, geologist, and nuclear physicist. He was also a scholar of history, folklore, languages, and the occult. In this groundbreaking study of Atlantis, he draws on all these disciplines, as well as ancient maps, Plato’s dialogues, and folkloric narratives, to provide the most compelling case yet of the disappearance of an entire civilization. Professor Santos demonstrates that Plato’s dating of Atlantis’s disappearance in 11,600 BP (before present) precisely corresponds to the catastrophic end of the Pleistocene Ice Age, as well as a historic flood event of cataclysmic proportions. The rising of the sea level by nearly 500 feet, he argues, submerged continent-sized lands—including Atlantis, which he connects with the biblical Garden of Eden. Provocative chapters cover such topics as the continent’s appearance in ancient maps, Indonesia as the true site of Eden, American interpretations of Atlantis, the four rivers of paradise, and more, giving a clear form to the ghostly outline of this fabled land.

Cayce's Prediction Came True: In 1938, Edgar Cayce made a prediction that a portion of Atlantis would rise again. Let's read it and analyze it to see how the prediction came true. "And Poseidia will be among the first portions of Atlantis to rise again. Expect it in sixty-eight and sixty-nine (1968 and 1969); not so far away!" [Edgar Cayce reading 958-3] How Cayce's prediction came true:Harbour Island, which is in Downtown Tampa has a rich history that goes back thousands of years. Up until 1921 it was known as Little Grassy Island. The island next to it was called Big Grassy Island. In 1921, a hurricane left both Big Grassy Island and Little Grassy Island completely underwater. Then in 1926, D.P. Davis created Davis Islands by building up Big Grassy Island. That is when it became Davis Island. At the time, Little Grassy Island was only a hill surrounded by a mudflat. Some time later, Davis dredged the canals surrounding the little island and built it up to become Harbour Island. If Edgar Cayce's prediction is 100% correct, between 1968 and 1969, the rebuilding of Little Grassy Island took place in Tampa Bay.During Poseidon's time, this area must have been called Poseidia. If we look back at Plato's story, we will find that this is where Poseidon raised his family. According to Plato, Little Grassy Island was the small island of Atlantis, which Cayce called Poseidia.Note: Visit Tampa to see the two islands. https://goo.gl/maps/FPnKKKdrv3E2To understand Cayce's contribution to the Atlantis story, we must examine his readings and find evidence that supports Plato's story. After studying the story by Plato, we can now decode Cayce's readings and use that information to support Plato's story. To get the whole story and analyze more of Cayce's readings, read the book, "Atlantis is Hiding in Plain Sight." From the author of the Pegasus series comes a spellbinding first book in a new fantasy series for fans of Rick Riordan and Shannon Messenger following two cousins whose summer vacation gets swept away by a storm that lands them on the lost island of Atlantis. The last way that Riley Evans wanted to spend spring break was studying whales on the family sailboat in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle. With only her dad, aunt, and annoying cousin Alfie for company, she is so bored staring at the waves that she’s starting to see mermaids between them. But when their boat is capsized during a sudden storm, Riley finds more excitement than she bargained for as she and Alfie are washed ashore with neither of their parents in sight. Where they’ve been shipwrecked is no deserted island, though. Atlantis is a place beyond imagination, inhabited by both people and incredible creatures ranging from unicorns and gargoyles to talking animals. But not everyone welcomes the cousins’ arrival, and beneath the wonder of this mythical land lurk dangerous secrets—something strange is happening to the inhabitants. What Riley wants more than anything is to find her father and go home. But the closer she gets to this goal, the more the islanders seem determined to keep her from reaching it. As Riley and Alfie unravel the mystery of Atlantis and its most terrifying part, the Forbidden Zone, they realize that the clock is ticking. If they can’t learn what happened to their parents and find a way off the island soon, it may be too late to leave.

A young queen is torn between her heart’s desire and the fate of her kingdom in this “first-rate” fantasy from a New York Times–bestselling author (Library Journal). On his deathbed, the four-hundred-year-old emperor of Atlantis has reason to worry. Signar, the savage ruler of a powerful outlying state, is scheming to seize control of the empire, and not even its advanced technology can save it. But something else can . . . From the frozen north country of Althrustri, Signar will halt his invasion if he can take the emperor’s daughter, the beautiful Empress Salustra, as his bride. Such a marriage contradicts the deepest feelings of Salustra’s heart, the secret wisdom of her lineage, and her sacred trust as Atlantis’s queen. But the emperor has a plan: Salustra will seduce Signar and then sentence him to death. In spite of every effort to harden her heart, Salustra soon finds herself falling in love with the lustful barbarian. Her loyalties gravely divided, the empress must make a decision that will change the course of history. Written by author Taylor Caldwell when she was a young girl and revised and published decades later, The Romance of Atlantis transforms the legend of a lost kingdom into an “extraordinary” tale of passion and intrigue (TheColumbus Dispatch).
