Cole Day isn't looking forward to breakfast. Mum has made 'Prune Surprise', and even Jeff the dog can only eat one helping of that before things start to get windy. But not all the gusts are coming from the poor pooch's tum. The hurricane hag herself, Gail Force, has blown into town, and she's using a new device called the Superfan to raid homes, shops and - eventually - the bank! It's time for Snow-Man and his team to breeze into action! Aimed at 9-12 year olds, each story in the Snow-Man series has a low reading age of 7-8, combining accessible language with exciting and witty plotlines that are appropriate to the age of the reader. This series has been created by popular author of comic stories for reluctant readers, Tommy Donbavand. It follows a not-so-ordinary boy called Cole Day and the various adventures of his chilly superhero alter ego, Snow-Man, plus sidekicks Thin Ice and Frostbite. Readers are sure to be entertained by the storylines in this series, as well as the array of ingenious villains such as Ray Burn, Gail Force and Chuck Ingit-Down. As always, the aim of these books is to draw and hold the attention of reluctant readers, in order to inspire confidence and to ensure that the reading experience is a positive and fun one.

Podcasting is the new media form that has taken the world by storm, and it is no surprise that many people want to take advantage of this popular medium. But with some 65% of all podcasts having less than 10 episodes, podfading is a real thing. Most people have no idea what they are letting themselves in for when they start podcasting, and it is no surprise that so few people actually make in success of it. This book shows you everything you need to know to master the art of podcasting. It starts right at the beginning, exploring the reasons why you want to start a podcast, taking you systematically through all the aspects you need to understand to make a success out of it. You will learn how to define your ideal listener, which genres and formats are best suited to your content, and how to niche down into your chosen niche. You will learn everything that you need to set yourself up to get started, from the equipment you need to the billboards and ads you will need to produce. You will get insights into the production process with tips on how to script, record, and edit your audio. Once you have some great content, you will need to distribute and market it. You will learn some special podcast marketing tricks and find out how to reach your earlier-defined ideal listener. This will include advice on how to name your podcast series and the individual episodes, write the descriptions, and design the various graphics you will need to make your podcast stand out from the rest. Most importantly, you will get insights into the various ways in which you can monetize your podcast to not only cover the costs but make a tidy profit. If Joe Rogan can do it, why not you? In short, this book will empower you to become a more than just an ordinary podcaster. With a workbook at the end of each chapter to help you apply the information practically, you will be able to become a podmaster.

This volume brings together a collection of recent essays on the philosophy and theory of history. This is a field of lively interdisciplinary discussion and research, to which historians, philosophers and theorists of culture and literature have contributed. The author is a philosopher by training, and his inspiration comes primarily from the continental-phenomenological tradition. Thus the influence of Husserl, Heidegger, Merleau-Ponty and Ricoeur can be discerned here. This background opens up a unique perspective on the issues under discussion. Phenomenology differs from other philosophical approaches, like metaphysics and epistemology. Phenomenology asks, of anything that exists or may exist: how is it given, how does it enter our experience, what is our experience of it like? Very broadly we can say: phenomenology is about experience. At first glance, this approach may seem ill-suited to history. In our language, “history” usually means either 1) what happened, i.e. past events, or 2) our knowledge of what happened. We can’t experience past events, and whatever knowledge we have of them must come from other sources—memory, testimony, physical traces. But the author maintains that we actually do experience historical events, and these essays explain how this is so. Sitting at the intersection of philosophy and history, and divided into three parts—Historicity, Narrative, and Time, Teleology and History, and Embodiment and Experience—this is the ideal volume for those interested in experience from a philosophical and historical perspective.

I always wanted to be a Gregorian monk, but I never got the chants. Great Moments in Dad History: October 28, 1960.
