Excerpt from Wilson's Photographic Magazine, Vol. 45 The consumption of paper coated with a sensitive collodion emulsion at the present time is enormous, and, con sequently, difficulties arise that are inevitable. It is well to know how to correct these difficulties when they occur, and if possible to avoid their recurrence. It must not be thought that these difficulties have only occurred in recent years. They have been known ever since the first introduction of a printing-out collodion emulsion, in 1864, by the late George Wharton Simpson. Collodion paper is now being used to an extent hitherto unknown, both in quan tity and size of the prints, the result being that methods of handling and manipulating have been adopted to meet the demand in producing this class of photographic print that differ from the original plan.
