Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

Mary Slessor was a Scottish missionary to Nigeria. Her strong personality and determination helped her spread the Christian faith and promote women's rights. In 1876, she applied to the Foreign Mission Board of the United Presbyterian Church of Scotland. She had a small amount of training before being sent to Calabar. Mary unlike many of the missionaries lived with and like the locals. She learned their language and assimilated herself into their society. During her years in Nigeria she adopted many children. Her story is a fascinating look at a miraculous woman of faith.
