Trouble is an equal opportunity employer. Trouble is a democratic process which does not discriminate against anyone. That is why the title of this sermon is not If Trouble Comes, but When Trouble Comes...Jesus never promised us that we would never have trouble. Jesus said: 'In this world you face persecution' (John 16:33).

"A Word to Encourage... . . . is a ministry tool for the Christian. It is a collection of greeting books and cards written to address common concerns to uplift the reader. They can be used as a follow up tool to teach, encourage, and caution. The writings are dramatized presentations or paraphrased teachings which render an interpretation of the Word of God. A book can be sent to the receiver periodically to water the seed of the Holy Spirit, or plant the seed into the new believerâs heart. The writings can also be used with your prayers, to reel Christ into the heart of an unbeliever who is struggling with lifeâs challenges. And fi nally the writings can be used to console and reassure the brother or sister in Christ as God purifies their faith through illnesses, death, or other hurtful events that occur in life."

#1 New York Times bestselling author Michael Moore returns with his first major book in eight years -- a blend of memoir, history, and politics that only he could write. "I had an unusually large-sized head, though this was not uncommon for a baby in the Midwest. The craniums in our part of the country were designed to leave a little extra room for the brain to grow in case one day we found ourselves exposed to something we didn't understand, like a foreign language, or a salad." Michael Moore-Oscar-winning filmmaker, bestselling author, the nation's unofficial provocateur laureate-is back, this time taking on an entirely new role, that of his own meta-Forest Gump. Breaking the autobiographical mode, he presents twenty-four far-ranging, irreverent, and stranger-than-fiction vignettes from his own early life. One moment he's an eleven-year-old boy lost in the Senate and found by Bobby Kennedy; and in the next, he's inside the Bitburg cemetery with a dazed and confused Ronald Reagan. Fast-forwarding to 2003, he stuns the world by uttering the words "We live in fictitious times . . . with a fictitious president" in place of the expected "I'd like to thank the Academy." And none of that even comes close to the night the friendly priest at the seminary decides to show him how to perform his own exorcism. Capturing the zeitgeist of the past fifty years, yet deeply personal and unflinchingly honest, Here Comes Trouble takes readers on an unforgettable, take-no-prisoners ride through the life and times of Michael Moore. No one will come away from this book without a sense of surprise about the Michael Moore most of us didn't know. Alternately funny, eye-opening, and moving, it's a book he has been writing-and living-his entire life.

“If there were a Guinness Book of World Records entry for ‘amount of times having prayed the sinner’s prayer,’ I’m pretty sure I’d be a top contender,” says pastor and author J. D. Greear. He struggled for many years to gain an assurance of salvation and eventually learned he was not alone. “Lack of assurance” is epidemic among evangelical Christians. In Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart, J. D. shows that faulty ways of present- ing the gospel are a leading source of the confusion. Our presentations may not be heretical, but they are sometimes misleading. The idea of “asking Jesus into your heart” or “giving your life to Jesus” often gives false assurance to those who are not saved—and keeps those who genuinely are saved from fully embracing that reality. Greear unpacks the doctrine of assurance, showing that salvation is a posture we take to the promise of God in Christ, a posture that begins at a certain point and is maintained for the rest of our lives. He also answers the tough questions about assurance: What exactly is faith? What is repentance? Why are there so many warnings that seem to imply we can lose our salvation? Such issues are handled with respect to the theological rigors they require, but Greear never loses his pastoral sensitivity or a communication technique that makes this message teachable to a wide audience from teens to adults.

For anyone who has experienced turbulence on an airplane, it would be true to say that it usually comes without warning and happens quite suddenly. Things become a bit chaotic as you experience firsthand a change in pressure which rocks the airplane to and fro causing one to grasp the arm of the seat very tightly, lean one's head back, close their eyes for a moment, and say a prayer. Without knowing for sure, you, in fact trust, that the pilot is maintaining his composure and that he has been properly trained, skilled, and experienced in flying the airplane in any and all kinds of weather. Although there are certain safety precautions and standards set in place to protect or safeguard you against the danger of turbulence, it is at that point that one comes to the realization how much trust you put in the pilot flying the plane to get you through the phase of turbulence and get you to your destination safely. Trouble-there is no question about it. Everyone at one time or another has been faced with the turbulence it brings whether in health, family, finances, relationships, or something else. Psalm 34:19 says in the Amplified Bible that many hardships and perplexing circumstances confront the righteous, but the Lord rescues him from them all. Many times, God gets the blame when bad things happen and the god of this world the devil is never seen as the real person to blame. Jeremiah 29:11 in the Amplified Bible says, "For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you," says the LORD. "Plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope." Whatever trouble it is that you are going through, you can know that you have the victory and that God has not deserted you in your time of need. God has an amazing plan for your life, and you can trust him and take him at his Word knowing that what he said he will do for you he will do and he will see you through to your final destination!
