No one understands that I just want to be me. Danny, Jack and Rusty spend a great deal of their time together, riding their bikes, swimming in the creek, and fishing -typical twelve-year-old activities. Danny is frequently in trouble with his parents because he gets so involved in their adventures that he fails to get home on time, or he wanders off when he hasn't asked permission. So, when he notices Rusty becoming friends with Tim, a boy who has been in bad trouble and also acting strangely about fires that have been started in their hometown of Bolton, Colorado, Danny rethinks hanging out with Rusty. When witnesses see Danny's Red Jacket at the scene of a crime, and because of Rusty's constant bullying, Danny wonders if anyone will believe his innocence. With his dad already angry that Danny doesn't behave, or study or practice his horn like his brother and sister, this new situation doesn't make life any easier. His dad is the one person whose mind he wants to change, but how can he change the mind of someone who has no faith in him? And who took Danny's Red Jacket?

Download Danny Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Danny is the story of a true event about a man with Down syndrome who was senselessly and viciously murdered. His life is recounted, and the criminal investigation, trial and its results are laid out for the reader's scrutiny. Only then are readers able to understand what happened to the criminals and to Danny’s family. Throughout Danny’s life there were many crises, which he overcame by the strength of his personality and family support. Danny had many clear-headed attributes, and he certainly utilized his intellectual abilities to their maximum. Out of determination and need, Danny created his own business enabling him to become self-supporting and financially independent. But rather than giving him the recognition he deserves, we are left pondering his fate. Danny was brave and didn’t submit to his aggressors. His bravery was no different than a soldier's on the field of battle. Danny's death, unfortunately, presents us with a dilemma: Did he fail to receive equal justice under the law, because he was handicapped? In many ways, our society and the people who govern it appear to be unable to properly cope with individuals like Danny. On the face of it, for whatever reason, our highly technical society is regrettably able to abstract itself from the needs of its less fortunate members. Heroes are not selected. If they were, they would all be glamorous, rich and, perhaps, celebrities. In reality, we must accept a hero from whence he comes. Danny was an authentic hero, even though he came to us from poverty and obscurity.

Download Emotionally Intelligent Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Emotional Intelligence Life Skills is designed with the educator, counselor, therapist, parent, youth minister, and younger generation in mind. This book begins by introducing the reader to the importance of understanding the brain and the way it affects behavior. It also stresses the importance of teaching young people how the brain can grow and learn through neurons. Additionally, this book explores mindfulness and encourages the adult to teach and practice mindfulness techniques and scripture meditation with the young person(s). This resource is equipped with opening statements that are to be used for the individual or group settings. A list of rules that identify how to work on the coping skills, social skills, and behavior skills daily is provided. There are questions within the activities to engage the individuals as well as follow-up questions to evaluate how well the individual has learned the information. If the individual has not grasped the content adequately, there are enough activities to allow continued expansion on the topic on different days. The discussion engages the young person from the age of five up through the age of twenty-three. Included in this book is an outlined dialogue that can be used to communicate with parents to assist the young person and parent. Many times children are taught skills to assist them in being successful in life, but when they go home, they are exposed to a different standard of being. This can hinder growth. Therefore, this book makes sure that the information being taught to the young person is reinforced by the parent through what their role is in growth and development for each topic. The hope for this workbook is to assist even the least creative educator, therapist, counselor, parent, and youth minister in effectively reaching out and making an impact in the minds and lives of the younger generations.

Ruth Tweed attended a one room school in West Central Minnesota. Memories of the rural thirties help bring her fictional Sally's experiences to life. Miles from the nearest town, County School District 13 is not only the school but also the focal point of the community. Sally, the oldest student, is a frustrated eighth grader. Ruth's first novel uses this background to picture education in an era that seems foreign to children today. Although it is hard for most of us to imagine country school, this book gives us a glimpse inside and will bring back memories to those who lived it. This is Ruth Jesness Tweed's third book. She previously published two books of poetry and short stories.
