The Northwest Florida Water Management District prepared a "Regional Water Supply Plan for Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton Counties" in response to requirements of the Florida Water Resources Act, Chapter 373, F.S.A recommendation of the plan is the evaluation of the potential for the coastal sand-and-gravel aquifer in the southern part of the region to serve as a supplemental water resource. The development of this source would serve to alleviate withdraws from the Floridan Aquifer. This report is an evaluation of the potential for a portion of the coastal sand-and-gravel aquifer in southern Okaloosa County to serve as a supplemental source of water for the region. The analysis is based on a compilation of existing data documenting the general hydraulic properties of the aquifer, current pumpage, and water quality. Analysis of the data shows that the aquifer could potentially function as a water resource.
