Duet arrangements of three well-known Vivaldi Concertos arranged for mandolin and guitar: Concerto in A (RV82), Concerto in C (RV425), and Concerto in D (RV93). Each arrangement in this collection has been reduced from soloist with string orchestra, to a duet for mandolin and guitar. the mandolin performs the solo part and the guitar part is a reduction of the strings. In the guitar part, chords have been added above the staff to allow for embellishment-a common practice of the Baroque era. Another C instrument such as flute, violin or another guitar can be easily substituted for the mandolin. Musicians will find these accessible arrangements excellent for performance in any setting from the recital hall to the local café.The score (guitar/mandolin) and mandolin solo part are available in hard copy while the guitar accompaniment part is available as a free internet download. the mandolin and guitar parts are presented in notation.

Conversations with Igor Stravinsky is the first of the celebrated series of conversation books in which Stravinsky, prompted by Robert Craft, reviewed his long and remarkable life. The composer brings the Imperial Russia of his childhood vividly into focus, at the same time scanning what were at the time the brave new horizons of Boulez and Stockhausen with extraordinary acuity. Stravinsky answers searching questions about his musical development and recalls his association with Diaghilev and the Russian Ballet. There are sympathetic and extraordinarily illuminating reminiscences of such composers as Debussy and Ravel ('the only musicians who immediately understood Le Sacre du Printemps'), while mischievous squibs are directed at others, most notably perhaps against Richard Strauss, all of whose operas Stravinsky wished 'to admit ... to whichever purgatory punishes triumphant banality'. The conversations are by no means confined to musical subjects, ranging uninhibitedly across all the arts: Stravinsky gives unforgettable sketches of Ibsen, Rodin, Proust, Giacometti, Dylan Thomas and T S Eliot. 'The conversations between Igor Stravinsky and Robert Craft are unique in musical history. The penetration of Craft's questions and the patience and detail of Stravinsky's answers combine to produce an intimate picture of a man who has sometimes puzzled, often delighted, and always intrigued ...' This book contains the first three of J.S. Bach's solo violin Sonatas and Partitas arranged for mandolin. The goal of the material is to make learning these challenging pieces easier. Mandolin tablature is included throughout the book. Mandolinists who have little or no experience reading standard notation will find this to be an essential learning tool. For good reason, there has been widespread interest in learning these pieces in the mandolin community. The pieces were originally written for violin. As a result, Bach's use of string crossing patterns and open-string pedals work brilliantly on the mandolin. Also, as solo works they are a useful addition to anyone's performing repertoire. Lastly, even if never performed, learning all or some of these is wonderful for building mandolin technique. Violinists often say that if you can play the Bach Solo Sonatas and Partitas you can play anything-the same is certainly true for mandolinists

Ticino is a small area at the southernmost tip of Switzerland on the border with Italy. the Ticino region was actually part of Italy until a few centuries ago. the mandolin arrived in Ticino through immigrants and their music, and put down important cultural roots there. the mandolin style in Ticino is a link to the old Italian folk music tradition, which has been largely lost in Italy and throughout other parts of the world. This book is a collection of some of the most famous pieces from this vast historical repertoire. the collection includes lots of popular folk songs, virtuosic pieces by original mandolin composers, as well as an original Aonzo composition. the book is presented in English and in Italian while the music is in standard notation and mandolin tablature.
