The "Synagoge" (Gk: collection of useful word explanations) is one of the most important lexicographical sources from early Byzantine times. The anonymous author quotes extracts from the works of ancient authors which have not been preserved elsewhere and gives details of customs and myths from the epoch. At the same time, he presents his own age and provides a rich source of information on education and scholarship. The present edition combines all the available manuscripts of the oldest version of the "Synagoge", and thus provides the first complete and critical survey of the context of the genesis and developmental stages of this work. In addition, the second part presents a new edition of the letter alpha from manuscript B, which contains particul-arly valuable data and thus required a new edition, the only previous version dating back to 1828. Comprehensive indexes provide access to the edition.

It was soon after Virginia Cyr's birth in 1942 in north central Indiana that she began to show signs of cerebral palsy. When her mother abandoned the family, the little girl was placed in an orphanage and later a boarding school and then a nursing home. She died in 1967 at age of 25. Virginia Cyr, God's Little Hobo is Virginia's story in Virginia's words. Here are her tender, amusing, inspiring, amazing "Letters to Mary" - the journal entries she painstakingly tapped out on a type-writer. Here are the thoughts and prayers, the hopes and dreams, she offered to the Blessed Mother.

After the impact of the car shattered his body on the evening of January 11, 2004... Fr. Groeschel reflects on the good that has come - and continues to come - from that horrific accident. And, responding to questions posed by noted British journalist John Bishop in an interview before the accident, he reflects on: Founding the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. Spending time in jail for civil disobedience outside an abortion clinic. Recognizing where God is when suffering intensifies and evil prospers. Understanding Christ's feeling of abandonment on the cross. Discovering and living one's vocation. Loving the poor wholeheartedly. Being "gently scolded" by Mother Teresa of Calcutta. And more...
