The Vedic Chants were declared a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2003 and added to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2008. However, only very few people in Western cultures know that the Vedas are the origin of all world religions, and even less that they, as such, do not contain a faith but a science. The word Vedas translated from Sanskrit means "science", not "faith". The biggest problem in understanding this science, besides its enormous abundance of writings, for the study of which a normal human life is hardly sufficient, is that its scientific explanations can only be found encoded in mystical language. There is also no one who has a more understandable version of it, not even among the Brahmins in India, because the Vedas were given to humans at a time when they were not yet able to understand them in scientific language. The oldest swastika ever found (Mezine, Ukraine), symbol of Hinduism, gives us an idea of when that was: about 18,000 years ago, towards the end of the last ice age. Rishi Siddhartha, who has personally experienced the highest Brahman, has now succeeded in deciphering the Vedas for the first time ever, and his book is aimed at Veda students who are already familiar with the most important Vedic concepts and are keen to gain a scientific understanding of the like. It contains, in line with this objective, a physical treatise and therefore requires knowledge of physics at high school level, an excellent spatial imagination and high intelligence for understanding, because the scientific understanding of the Vedas is a mental quantum leap from the current materialistic science of our perceptible ,,relative reality" (Vedic designation) to the millennia-old science of the superimposed ,,absolute reality" of Brahman, which draws a completely different worldview that is far too complex and grand for a human being ever to come up with. An excerpt from this book appeared just a few weeks after its publication as leading article in the German Nexus Magazine (Issue No. 86) and triggered a wave of enthusiasm and amazement, because the millennia-old Vedas obviously contain the all-explanatory world formula (,,Theory of everything" = T.O.E.) that modern science is looking for. Accordingly, all phenomena of the material world consist of three different types of electromagnetic waves (Gunas) that are projected from outside into the universe and carried (as Prana) by the smallest units of space (Akasha) in synchronism with their integrated resonant circuits (Shabda) throughout the entire universe, to meet in phase in just one place (similar to a holography) and transform there into matter or living beings (Maya). The first part of this book contains a summary of all relevant scientific statements of the Vedas and reveals how the universe, matter and living beings came into existence and how they function. In the second part, the deciphered Vedic Science is applied to the pyramids and reveals virtuously their purpose and function! The fact that with pyramids the quantum flow (prana) can also be used as an inexhaustible source of energy is undoubtedly the most important side result at that. So much in advance: the sound of the OM, the most sacred mantra in Hinduism and Buddhism, plays a central role at that. It carries us to the Sea of Causes (Karanodak) outside the universe. There, the smallest units of space (Akasha) take on water-like properties and, thanks to their cluster intelligence, form an intelligent, living and autonomous organism ... Brahman ... the Cosmic Consciousness ... origin of all life and all matter!

The Vedas were included 2003 by UNESCO in the collection of Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity, and 2008 in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Few people in Western cultures know that they contain the oldest science of humanity. The word "Vedas" is Sanskrit (Indo-Aryan) and means "knowledge", not belief. Correspondingly, Vedic science does not claim to include a theory, but already the absolute, definitive and unchangeable truth. This also was not developed as a result of human considerations, but given to the authors of the Vedas by Brahma through revelations. The exact time when that happened is not passed down. However, since the Vedas are inextricably linked to the symbol of the swastika, and the oldest ever found swastika is about 12,000 years old, so this must have happened at the latest by 10,000 BC. This at least clarifies the vast periods that must be taken into account if one tries to decipher the pictorial and parable-enriched phrasing of the Vedas. For many thousands of years, Vedic knowledge was first handed down only orally, whereby its scientific statement not necessarily became clearer. The problem with the study of the Vedas is therefore their mystical expression, which fully reveals itself only to the initiated and the enlightened. Added to this is the enormous volume of Vedic literature, for whose study a normal human life hardly suffices. It was not until the first millennium BC that the Brahmins in India began to write down the Vedas, creating a picture that contained enough fragments to recognize it as a metaphysical concept, but not enough to understand its full scientific meaning. Fortunately, I have succeeded in reconstructing the missing fragments, and the enthusiasm that overwhelmed me when I recognized the dimension that opened up to me in recovering this treasure is difficult to put into words. Let me put it this way: The scientific understanding of the Vedas is a quantum leap in consciousness. There is no second literary work on earth that gives such comprehensive and holistic information about the origin of the universe, the origin of life and matter, the interaction between the material and immaterial world, the cause of quantum phenomena such as the wave-particle dualism, the functioning of living beings, the nature and extent of their consciousness, their free will, etc. etc. ... This book contains a summary of the scientific statements of the Vedas and reveals in an easy-to-understand form, with a multitude of illustrations and without a single mathematical formula, so that anyone can truly understand, how the universe, matter, and living beings emerged and function according to the Vedas. And only those who get to this Vedic knowledge can also understand the meaning, purpose and function of the pyramids. Otherwise it is simply impossible. Only so far in advance: the sound of OM plays a central role at that. Here we learn firsthand where it comes from, what its frequencies are, and what happens to the people who perceive it. And as if all that were not enough, a completely new, environmentally friendly and inexhaustible energy source opens up for us: the continuous quantum flow from the Karanodak. How to transform this into electricity is also described here in this book. The gateway to a new human age is thus open.

The Encyclopaedia fills a gap in both the history of science and in cultural stud ies. Reference works on other cultures tend either to omit science completely or pay little attention to it, and those on the history of science almost always start with the Greeks, with perhaps a mention of the Islamic world as a trans lator of Greek scientific works. The purpose of the Encyclopaedia is to bring together knowledge of many disparate fields in one place and to legitimize the study of other cultures' science. Our aim is not to claim the superiority of other cultures, but to engage in a mutual exchange of ideas. The Western aca demic divisions of science, technology, and medicine have been united in the Encyclopaedia because in ancient cultures these disciplines were connected. This work contributes to redressing the balance in the number of reference works devoted to the study of Western science, and encourages awareness of cultural diversity. The Encyclopaedia is the first compilation of this sort, and it is testimony both to the earlier Eurocentric view of academia as well as to the widened vision of today. There is nothing that crosses disciplinary and geographic boundaries, dealing with both scientific and philosophical issues, to the extent that this work does. xi PERSONAL NOTE FROM THE EDITOR Many years ago I taught African history at a secondary school in Central Africa.

Why did the Greeks excel in geometry, but lag begin the Mesopotamians in arithmetic? How were the great pyramids of Egypt and the Han tombs in China constructed? What did the complex system of canals and dykes in the Tigris and Euphrates river valley have to do with the deforestation of Lebanon's famed cedar forests? This work presents a cross-cultural comparison of the ways in which the ancients learned about and preserved their knowledge of the natural world, and the ways in which they developed technologies that enabled them to adapt to and shape their surroundings. Covering the major ancient civilizations - those of Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, Greece, the Indus Valley, and Meso-America - Olson explores how language and numbering systems influenced the social structure, how seemingly beneficial construction projects affected a civilization's rise or decline, how religion and magic shaped both medicine and agriculture, and how trade and the resulting cultural interactions transformed the making of both everyday household items and items intended as art. Along the way, Olson delves into how scientific knowledge and its technological applications changed the daily lives of the ancients.
