George MacDonald (10 December 1824 - 18 September 1905) was a Scottish author, poet, and Christian minister. Known particularly for his poignant fairy tales and fantasy novels, George MacDonald inspired many authors. It was C.S. Lewis who wrote that he regarded MacDonald as his "master".Even Mark Twain, who initially disliked MacDonald, became friends with him, and there is some evidence that Twain was influenced by MacDonald.MacDonald wrote "Unspoken Sermons" as a series, with the first series being published in 1867. The second came along almost twenty years later in 1885, followed by the third of the series in 1889.C. S.
