Warning: These cases might upset your reality. Straight out of Project Blue Book, these are UFO cases the U.S. Air Force couldn't explain - real-life X-files from Missouri. They baffled the military and were labeled as "unknowns." Using outside analysts and military personnel, the USAF treated these reports of strange lights, flying saucers and other UFOs seriously. From the late 1940s through the late 1960s, Project Blue Book received more than 12,000 reports. Most were explained away as common everyday objects: planets, tricks of light, balloons, birds, meteors, helicopters or planes. But not all could be identified - 701 reports are still listed as "unknown." Seeking the truth Journalist Dave Toplikar, who has had a long career reporting on politics, government, police, courts and business, has been looking into some of those UFO cold cases since 2015. In this book, he's looking at 10 "unknowns" from Missouri, including several sightings in Kansas City and St. Louis, and others in Kirksville, Lake City, Normandy, Butler, Marshfield, and Gower. These Missouri cold cases include formerly classified documents, such as an FBI letter detailing a sighting over a munitions plant. They include an emotional hand-written note to President Eisenhower. The documents include scraps of paper, forms, rough sketches, and once-classified military statements, including sworn statements from radar operators. Eye-opening accounts Within these cold case files, the author found witness statements of UFOs that defy our current understanding of physics and gravity. Some witnesses wanted to remain anonymous, but saw it as their civic duty to report what they saw. One man was so shaken, he wouldn't come forward, but his wife and employer relayed his story to authorities. Finding a larger picture Toplikar, who has won multiple journalism awards for storytelling, has compiled the incidents into easy-to-read narratives. He includes historical context and connects these Missouri sightings to other UFO cases reported at the time, including the 1952 Washington Flap. He also learned some of these cold cases might not have actually ended with Project Blue Book, but might have been quietly passed off to non-public agencies within the intelligence community. Recent revelations While Project Blue Book was shut down in 1969, in 2017 and early 2018, news agencies including the New York Times reported the government actually has been recently studying UFOs in secrecy. They reported some very strange encounters of crafts that baffled our top military pilots and easily defeated our best technology to track them. In light of those recent revelations, a new look at these Project Bluebook Missouri cold cases could be in order. Read these cases with an open mind and decide for yourself. As evidence shows it, UFO events and reports hold a startling and unique connection to human medicine in a way never envisioned or expected until now. With soaring medical problems and costs in the United States, the connection between medical world and UFO incidents becomes evident when one looks at the body of evidence from a doctor's point of view. The medical applications arising from this connection and the factual data clearly indicate the need to research the endless possibilities, with great benefits to medicine and human needs in general. UFO reports and events such as the Gorman dogfight, Kecksburg Incident, and the Phoenix Lights clearly show the need for medical research in this area in a new light and with information that has only recently been uncovered, and point to an entire new medical field that has never been scrutinized until now. Dr. Clarington and Dr. Kent bring the otherwise unnoticeable connection to light in the clearest language, challenging other doctors, scientists, and people in general to consider the enormous benefits that UFO reports hold for the medical world and for countless patients who are in dire need of medical solutions. The book gives Missouri MUFON concepts to consider in active UFO research that can go a long way in shedding light on a subject that should interest both "believers" and "non-believers", by finding practical applications for all of us.
