An experimental investigation was conducted to study the effects of Reynolds number variation on isolated nozzle afterbody performance. A strut-mounted cone-cylinder model with three separate afterbody configurations for Aerospace Research and Development (AGARD) was used for this investigation. This program was conducted in two phases distinguished by the model size and the wind tunnels used to obtain the experimental results. The effect of tunnel wall porosity on nozzle afterbody (NAB) performance was investigated.

Tunneling in Rock reviews the theory and practice of engineering geology and its application to tunneling in rocks. This book explores the history of tunneling, defines terminologies of tunneling, and illustrates tunnels. This paper presents a theoretical and experimental investigation of the effect of wind-tunnel walls on the air forces on an oscillating wing in two-dimensional subsonic compressible flow. A method of solving an integral equation which relates the downwash on a wing to the unknown loading is given, and some comparisons are made between the theoretical results and the experimental results. A resonance condition, which was predicted by theory in a previous report (NACA Rep. 1150), is shown experimentally to exist. In addition, application of the analysis is made to a number of examples in order to illustrate the influence of walls due to variations in frequency of oscillation, Mach number, and ratio of tunnel height to wing semichord.

The shakedown and calibrated characteristics of the new AEDC Mach Number 4 Aerothermal Wind Tunnel were experimentally identified at several test conditions. The nominal Mach number of the test core as defined by a 30-probe pitot pressure rake varied between nominally 3.95 and 4.0, depending on the test section Reynolds number and stilling chamber temperature. The overall variation in the stilling chamber pressure is nominally 15 to 180 psia, with temperatures from 250 to 1,210 F for an overall Reynolds number range of 0.2 to 8.1 million per foot and true temperature-pressure altitude simulation from 56,000 to 105,000 ft.
