Excerpt from Transactions of the Medical Society of New Jersey, 1896 Letter Of regret Of his inability to attend the meeting was received from Prof. C. A. Lindsley, of New Haven, honorary member. The report Of the Committee of Arrangements was made by Dr. Henry Mitchell, Chairman. He said the Committee had had the pleasure to provide for the Society a beau tiful meeting room. They had also been able to an nounce, for the first time since Dr. Mitchell had been a member, a concession in hotel rates. The rates, it was hoped, would become the standing rates - three dollars a day for each guest. The Committee had found on inquiry that the regular excursion rates on the railroads were less than those under special concessions, therefore, the latter had not been requested. A large, well ventilated room had been secured in the basement Of the hotel for exhibits. This was the third time the Society had done Asbury Park the honor to entertain it members. The first time, it was no exaggeration to say ninety per cent. Of those who had come went away disappointed, for the meeting room was four or five blocks away from the hotel, and the season being earlier, the place seemed cheerless and forbidding. On the second occasion the Society had been well pleased, and on the present one, the proprietor of the hotel was determined to let no one go away dissatisfied.
