Tourism Development In The Federated States Of Micronesia PDF Download

Tourism in Yap state, Federated states of Micronesia (FSM) is currently underdeveloped with just over 2300 visitor arrivals in 1988. As one of the few alternatives for economic development, the tourism industry is being promoted by the Yap State Government. A "Comprehensive Tourism Plan" (CTP) for Yap was completed in 1985 providing a long-term direction for tourism development and recommending specific implementation strategies. This study focuses on developing a plan to market Yap's tourism industry. The purpose of this study is threefold: 1) to provide a brief update of tourism development in Yap and discuss the forces that affect the industry (overall growth in travel, competitive destinations), 2) to select target markets appropriate for tourism in Yap and establish marketing activities and formulate a timetable and budget for implementation.
