Recent results on top quark physics with the D0 experiment in {anti p}p collisions at √s = 1.8 TeV for an integrated luminosity of 125 pb−1 are reported. The direct measurement of the top quark mass uses single lepton events, giving the result m{sub top} = 173.3 ± 5.6(stat) ± 6.2(syst) GeV=c2. The measurement of the t{anti t} production cross section includes analyses from 8 top decay channels: dilepton (t{anti t} → e[mu], ee, and [mu][mu]), electron and neutrino (t{anti t} → e[nu]), and single leptons (t{anti t} → e + jets and t{anti t} → [mu] + jets) with and without b tagging. We measure the t{anti t} production cross section to be 5.5 ± 1.8 pb at m{sub top} = 173.3 GeV/c2.

CDF and D0 have published or submitted for publication eleven papers [1-11] that include direct experimental measurements of the top quark mass. Each experiment has found that the lepton+jets channel [1,5,6,9,10,11,12] gives the most precise result. However, CDF and D0 have also measured the top quark mass in other decay topologies. Both D0 [2,6] and CDF [3,4] have published additional results in the dilepton channels, while CDF [8] has published a result in the all-hadronic channel. Our aim in this note is to reduce the overall uncertainty on the top quark mass measurement by combining the most recent and final of these measurements [1,2,3,7,8]. This note combines the mass from the five separate measurements taking into account the statistical and systematic uncertainties as well as the correlations in the systematic uncertainties. The final Tevatron top mass based on Run 1 data is m{sub t} = 174.3 " 3.2(stat) " 4.0(syst) GeV/c2. Combining the statistical and systematic uncertainties, the top mass is m{sub t} = 174.3 " 5.1 GeV/c2.

We present the recent results on top quark physics and B physics with the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF). These results come from analyses using a full data sample at an integrated luminosity of 109 pb[sup -1] cross section in 1.8-TeV p[anti p] collisions. We measure the top quark mass to be 175.8[+-]6.5 GeV/c[sup 2] and the t[anti t] production cross section to be 7.6[sup+1.8][sub -1.5] pb. We also present measurements of the lifetimes of B-hadrons and the time- dependent B[sup 0]-[anti B][sup 0] mixing which results in the mass difference between heavy and light B[sup 0][sub d] mesons ([Delta]m[sub d]) of 0.464[+-]0.030(stat)[+-]0.026(syst) ps[sup -1].

We present the latest results on the top quark obtained by the CDF experiment using a data sample of about 110 pb[sup -1]. The data sample has been collected at the FermiLab Tevatron Collider with p[anti p] collisions at[radical]s= 1.8 TeV. We briefly describe the candidate event selection and then discuss the production cross section determination and the mass measurement. Combining the results from the channels with at least one W decaying leptonically into an electron or muon, we measure[sigma][sub t[anti t]]= 7.5[sup+1.9][sub -1.6] pb. Our best measured value for the top mass gives M[sub t]= 176.8[+-]6.5 GeV/c[sup 2]. We also report on the observation of t[anti t] production in the all hadronic decay channel using kinematic selection and b identification, and in the channel containing one hadronically decaying[tau] lepton. Finally we discuss the kinematics of top events and measure the matrix element[vert-bar]V[sub tb][vert-bar]=1.12[+-]0.12.

Fermilab's Tevatron accelerator is recently performing at record luminosities that enables a program systematically addressing the physics of top quarks. The CDF collaboration has analyzed up to 5 fb−1 of proton anti-proton collisions from the Tevatron at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The large datasets available allow to push top quark measurements to higher and higher precision and have lead to the recent observation of electroweak single top quark production at the Tevatron. This article reviews recent results on top quark physics from the CDF experiment.
