Taking the events of Blair's last hundred days as his launching pad for captivating snapshots of key moments in his premiership, Adam Boulton follows Tony Blair intimately through his final day in office. The veteran political journalist witnesses the so-called 'Blairwell Tour' as the caravan travels from Westminster to Washington, Iraq, South Africa, the EU, the G8, Northern Ireland, the Sedgefield constituency, Chequers to the final farewell and beyond. Boulton traces from these celebrations back to the key incidents, achievements and mistakes of the Prime Minister's ten years in power. And he draws on his first hand experience of them to measure Tony Blair against his immediate predecessors, Margaret Thatcher and John Major, and the rival who succeeded him, Gordon Brown. Boulton has followed the Blair story intimately from 1983 to the present. He provides fresh and fascinating insights into the Blair-Brown conflict, the decision making that led to Britain joining the US invasion of Iraq, the pressures on the Blair family, and the often fraught and febrile relationship between Number 10 and the media. MEMORIES OF THE BLAIR ADMINISTRATION isauthoritative, highly readable and revealing.

Tony 10 was the online betting username of Tony O'Reilly, the postman who became front-page news in 2011 after he stole €1.75 million from An Post while he was a branch manager in Gorey. He used the money to fund a gambling addiction that began with a bet of €1 and eventually rose to €10 million, leading to the loss of his job, his family, his home – and winning him a prison sentence. From the heart-stopping moments in a hotel room in Cyprus with his wedding money riding on the Epsom Derby, to the euphoria of winning half a million over a weekend, to the late goals and the horses falling at the last fence, Tony 10 is the story of an ordinary man's journey from normality to catastrophe. At times, he vowed to get out while he was ahead, only to be taken by another surge of adrenaline, falling deeper and deeper into a compulsion that consumed his life. His disappearance on the morning the fraud was discovered led to a surreal three days on the run in Northern Ireland, and ultimately his arrest, conviction and sentencing to four years in jail. Tony 10 is the mesmerising story of the secret life of a pathological gambler – as well as the most compelling account yet of the damage wrought by the online gambling industry.

About Tony Sanchez: Trumpet Songs is a story based upon hundreds of musicians I have met and performed with over the years. I have attempted to place this fictional character I call Tony Sanchez into musically historical events and places and with actual musicians of those periods. The birthplace of mariachi is considered to be in or near Guadalajara, Mexico, and some of the bands mentioned in my story are actual bands that performed in Mexico. The other musicians in my story who Tony Sanchez meets or performs with are both fictional and real. The reader will probably know which ones are real and which ones are fictional. It should be clear that there never was a Tony Sanchez who played with Dizzy Gillespie, Jay McShann, Leonard Bernstein, Burt Bacharach, Herb Alpert, or Sonny and Cher. What I wanted to do in this book is take the reader through the different times and places of music in America. Tony Sanchez is real in the sense that he embodies the hopes and dreams of almost all professional musicianstheir drive to be better, and their almost insane need to be on the move. In the end, my story is nothing more than a fictional account of a musician, like myself, who daydreams of being something he will never be, and works at a goal he will never reach. Randy

Echols strips bare the world of Pentecostals to reveal how impassioned faith and devotion to the "annointed ones" blinded parents to the evil in their midst.

For thirty days I was close by him at historic events -- in the places where writers never are. Before Britain could help the United States in the war against Saddam Hussein, Tony Blair faced a battle against his own voters, his own party, and his own allies in Europe. These were among the most tense and tumultuous weeks the world had seen since the fall of the Berlin Wall. In thirty days, Blair took on his opponents and won. Through it all, Peter Stothard had unprecedented access to Blair -- from Ten Downing Street and the House of Commons through the war summits in the Azores, Brussels, Belfast, and at Camp David. Stothard brings us inside the corridors of power during this extraordinary time, offering a vivid, up-close view of an enormously popular leader facing the challenge of his life.
