For over thirty years C. E. Hastie has struggled with these three conditions: Covetousness, Jealousy, and Envy. She eventually realized that was partly because they are so closely related and interconnected. They blend one into another, and this makes them difficult to identify and deal with. She knew and experienced the spiritual symptoms but needed a clearer diagnosis to gain a better understanding of each one. It was also noticeable that other Christians were quite reluctant to admit to having problems in these areas, which made them hard to discuss. This is understandable; they are ugly in nature, especially envy. The overall aim of this book is to give a working definition of each “sister” with some ideas for combatting these conditions using accounts and verses from the Bible. There is a final section on the evil eye, which, though related to the other three, is not quite the same. The author still struggles with these three issues but believes that with the Lord’s help she and the reader can make progress together.

Analyzing the ways in which the Grimm brothers' tales provide real, vital insights into how to live more happily, understand the need for personal and psychological growth, and find that significant other, this innovative study revives the true healing nature of these beloved tales. Combining enjoyment of these tales with insightful research, this exploration uses actual case histories to show how the odd and bizarre episodes in fairy tales are actually astounding renditions of human behaviors that occur during times of crisis. It also shows how the six archetypal stages of psychological development are present both in these tales and in everyday life. Contrary to common, contemporary fairy tale re-creations, this study discusses how the Grimm brothers’ stories deal with topics such as dysfunctional family dynamics, sexual jealousy, narcissism, incest, rape, and personal growth from trauma to wellness--noting that Cinderella didn’t have a fairy godmother and frogs were never kissed.

Let's say you want to know which famous Canadian poet lived in the Waverley Hotel for seven years, constantly changing rooms in fear of RCMP bugs. Or you live at 44 Walmer and want to know what on earth they were thinking with those balconies. Or you want to know what's behind (or underneath!) that giant O hanging over Harbord at Spadina. These things were troubling us, too, so we assembled East/West: A Guide to Where People Live in Downtown Toronto. East/West is a guided tour of old stories and fresh perspectives on the architecture and planning of housing and urban development in central Toronto - including both success stories and perennial problems. With specially prepared maps and over 120 photos, and essays - written by 65 of our best architects, historians and planners - exploring the history and development of neighbourhoods and of the individual buildings within them, East/West is a portrait of Toronto like no other. East/West is not your average city guide. It'll take you down alleyways you've never heard of, show you buildings you've never seen, offer you that bit of history you've never been able to access. It tells you how Toronto has tried to house the homeless over the years, how the waterfront evolved (or devolved, depending on how you look at it), and the character of different neighbourhoods has changed. FromAnnex abodes to Rosedale residences, this book will introduce you to a Toronto you only thought you knew.
