The aim of the Author, in all he has published, has been, by means of homely language, accompanied with familiar and practical illustration, to instruct those who are entrusted with the care and management of Steam Engines, so that they may ascertain with certainty whether they are deriving the greatest amount of practical advantage from the several quantities of impulsive power they may generate and apply.
