Preserve and cultivate the friendships you have made here at Stevens. The Alumnus who neglects or loses interest in his Alma Mater is truly to be pitied. The loss is his though he is too blind to see the truth. From to-day you have to guard not only your own honor and reputation, but the good name of Stevens. Remembering what your Alma Mater has given to you, as you acquire the means be ready to co-operate with your Alma Mater to extend a helping hand to others. While I rejoice with you to-day I have my own serious thoughts. I question myself--Have I done my full duty by you? I can only say I have tried to do so. And now I welcome you with all my heart into the honorable company of Stevens Alumni; and I bid you go forth as loyal sons of a worthy mother determined to win for yourselves first self-support and then the means for rendering unselfish service to your fellows, so adding honor and renown to our Alma Mater.
