The active revival of stereoscopy brings with it the need of a modern treatise on the subject, more adapted to the times than the book of thirty years ago; for if in optical knowledge but few strides have been made, in matters photographic our progress has been enormous. The present work is almost a'literal translation from Le Stereoscope et la Photo graphie Stereoscopique of M. Drouin, only a few alterations and interpolations having been made in the necessary anglification. The metric system was adopted by the author, and it has been deemed advisable in most instances not to convert into.
