Excerpt from The Social History of Kamarupa, Vol. 1 The first volume of this book contains a brief history of Kamarupa in the prehistoric age as well as of the period from the third to the fourteenth century of the Christian era. It will be seen in this volume how from the tita Sagara (red Sea) they sailed on board their[3. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from The Social History of Kamarupa, Vol. 3 After the publication of the 2ud Volume, complaints from some of the Kamarupa Kayas tha, Samaja came to me that I have left out the history of some of the important ancient Kayastha families altogether and the Social History of the Kayastha Samaia there could not be complete without the record of those families, Over and above, no such history could be complete without narrating the history of the devout Saktas of Kamakhya one of the 51 Pith as of Tantrika fame and also of other devotees of Sgkta cult, In this connection, 1 have to deal with the Brahmanas of Bakta cult and of Saka dvipi Brahmanas who were established by Ahom kings of Assam. Of course I frankly admit that to write out a proper history of Sakta and Sakadvipi Brahmanas and the Kavas sthas honoured by Ahom Raj prompted me to write out this volume. Excerpt from The Social History of Kamarupa, Vol. 2 The first part of this book was published four years ago and in the Introduction Ihad given an outline of the plan to be followed in the second part. But I regret to say that the last four year? Have bgen to me a period of great trial as owing to chronic nephrites and asthma attended with weakness of heart, I passed my time Istrdggling between life and death, and had in consequence to give up some of the details that l I)ad thought of working out in this part. When ever I could snatch a'few days of comparative health, I set myself to work, but I experienced a great obstruction from the dilatoriness of the p'fess. I had to change four presses successively for completing this work, the shortness of accented types inihese presses made it impossible for me to observe uniformity in the spelling of those words which had to be accented. Defects and irregularities on this head will be observed throughout the book. For which I beg to be excused.
