If it can be shown that alcohol is not a poison but a food, and that moderate drink ing is safe, then our objectors are right and these textbooks are inaccurate, and should be revised to teach the children of this country that they should add alcohol to their food lists, and that tippling is safe. Such a revision would be very acceptable to dealers in alcoholic liquors, and to moderate drinkers who object to their habits being rebuked by anything taught the children in the public schools.
