This novel tells the story of Elijah Rasba who lived alone in a log cabin on Temple Run. Excerpt: "Two generations before, Old Abe Rasba had built a church on a little brook, a tributary of Jackson River, away up in the mountains...Old Abe had called his church "The Temple," had preached from a big hollow oak stump, and laid down the Law of the Bible, which he had memorized by heart, and expounded from experience. Elijah Rasba, the grandson of Old Abe, thus came honestly by reverence and religion, but the strange glory which had surrounded the old Temple had departed from the ruin, and of all the congregation, only Elijah remained." Will Elijah be able to restore the strange glory that had surrounded the old Temple?

Behind the men who shaped history are the heroes who forever changed it. In The Prophet, the fourth book in the Sons of Encouragement series, beloved author Francine Rivers illuminates the life of Amos. Francine examines the life of Amos and his relationship to Israel during its prosperous years. Amos's message--and his relationship with God--made him unpopular. But his challenge to those who were enjoying the blessings of prosperity was crucial then and is strikingly timely today as well.

Raymond S. Spears (1876-1950) was an author of western and adventure stories. He was born in Belleview, Ohio in 1876. He was the son of John R. Spears, a naval historian and Celestia Colette Smiley Spears, a teacher. Raymond was educated in Philadelphia. Raymond eventually moved to New York City to work as a reporter for the New York Sun. He worked there for five years before moving back to the countryside and doing free lance reporting. He took several cross-country trips and wrote about them in Forest and Stream. These trips provided the background information for many of his fiction and non-fiction writings. Raymond used up to eight pseudonyms for his writings, the most used of which was Jim Smiley. He was the president of the American Trappers' Association during the 1930s. Amongst his works are A Trip on the Great Lakes (1913) and The River Prophet (1918).
