It follows that they do not represent the true value of improvements. It is owing to this fact that the building statistics of St. Louis do not compare favorably with those of other cities. The commissioner says that his present force of inspectors, four in number, is inadequate to properly discharge the duties pertaining to their 06008 and asks for an increase to a sufficient number to thoroughly inspect all buildings in course of erection as well as those deemed unsafe.
