Excerpt from The Relief Society Magazine, 1932, Vol. 19 His success in the broad field of his activities was exceeded only by his unbounded generosity. Sharing his fortune with others was one of his greatest pleasures. Having felt the pangs of hunger he had deep and genuine sympathy for all who were poor or unfortunate. No cry for food or clothing ever reached his ear unheeded. The needy never appealed to him in vain. His large and generous gifts to the Church in addition to the payment of his regular dues and contributions and his magnificent gift to his city mark him, I think, as being peerless in liberality among his fellow church men and fellow citizens 'of Utah. Excerpt from The Relief Society Magazine, 1939, Vol. 26 It is one of the glories of Relief Society that though among our members there is a great variety of environments, there is the greatest unity of spirit. Our manners of speech may be different, we may even be different in certain set ideas, but beneath all that, we are alike in what we feel and are, alike in our ideals, alike in our love, and alike scattered organiza tions one feels this essential unity. Excerpt from The Relief Society Magazine, Vol. 4: January, 1917 Presidency of the Church and the General Board of the Gen eulogical Society of Utah, together with the Presidents of the various temples have expressed commendation and appreciation of the work done by the sisters in this matter. We should not slacken our efl'orts, for this work lies at the. Foundation of our spiritual life. Other temples are building, and others still will be built, in the near future, provided the Saints continue their activities in this direction. We suggest to you all the motto adopted by the Genealogical Committee of our General Board in regard to every phase of this genealogical and temple work. Let us provoke the brethren to good works, and not provoke the brethren while we are doing the work. We suggest the continu ance of primary genealogical lessons 111 the various wards, and that each member of the Society shall attend one day in a temple dur ing the year 1917. Or arrange for a substitute. Excursions on regu lar days to the-temples should be undertaken, always with the sanction and approval of the presiding priesthood. We hope you will prepare the index cards which have been partially distributed and send them back to this office as soon as you have completed your task.
