WHO SAYS BASEBALL CAN'T BE FUNNY? IT'S THE FIRST PARODY OF A SPORTS BOOK EVER!You've heard Weird Al's parodies of pop songs. You've seen SNL's parodies of TV shows. You've read the Harvard Lampoon's parodies of books like "The Hunger Games." But what about sports? Why can't sports be funny too?Veteran comedy writer Steve Lookner (SNL, MADtv) proves that sports can indeed be hilarious with the FIRST-EVER parody of a sports book! Lookner takes Mariano Rivera's book The Closer and transforms it into a comedy grand slam: THE RELIEF FISHER.THE RELIEF FISHER is the book Mariano Rivera would've written if he'd lived the funniest life ever! In Mariano's own words, you'll hear what it was like growing up in a fishing village and learning to play a version of baseball in which all the equipment is made of fish...even the gloves! You'll go inside the Rivera family's shack as Mariano signs his first contract with the Yankees, and the Yankees pay him in sea bass. And you'll be there when Mariano sees a radar gun for the first time, and thinks it's a ray gun from Star Trek and that the Yankees' scout is going to vaporize him.THE RELIEF FISHER also takes you inside the dugout for a hilarious insider's perspective on the great Yankee teams of the last two decades. You'll hear about the time Derek Jeter made a throwing error because he was grabbing a girl's butt with his other hand. You'll watch as Paul O'Neill destroys a water cooler because he only hit a double rather than a home run. You'll learn about the Yankees' secret practice of putting Yogi Berra's embalmed body in a wheelchair to make people think he's still alive. And you'll be there at Yankee Stadium when Mariano attempts to kill all the band members of Metallica for writing "Enter Sandman". From A-Rod to Cano, from Tino to Torre, jokes about all of the Yankees greats are here! And also jokes about the worst Yankee ever, Jim Leyritz.Last but certainly not least, you'll get the hysterical perspective on baseball and on life that can only come from (the parody version of) Mariano Rivera. Mariano will tell you:--Why Red Sox fans are the stupidest people in America--Why his all time saves record is much more important than Derek Jeter's 3,000 hits--Why no one in baseball listens to the pitching coach--Why Edgar Martinez is the worst human being in the worldIt's no surprise that it took the greatest closer ever to inspire the funniest sports book ever. Whether you're a Mariano Rivera fan, a baseball fan, a fan of fish, or just a fan of laughing your stirrups off, you'll love THE RELIEF FISHER!

"Amy? Hello?" I went inside and searched the entire place.Amy was gone.Hooray!!!!!***Meet Nick. He's kind of dumb. Meet his wife, Amy. She's kind of a bitch. One day Amy goes missing. What happened? Find out...in GONE BITCH!GONE BITCH is the hilarious new parody of Gone Girl which will have you on the edge of your seat AND rolling on the floor. All your favorite characters from Gone Girl are here...but way funnier!First off, there's NICK. Nick doesn't seem particularly upset that his wife is missing, or particularly anxious to find her. But he is perfectly willing to stop by the searches for Amy...because he can try to pick up girls there using lines like, "I'd like to search YOUR woods." Nick also loves lying to the police. For example, Nick's alibi for the morning Amy disappeared is that he was hang gliding, taking a karate lesson, and shooting a major motion picture with Keanu Reeves. There's also AMY, Nick's wife. Amy is basically the worst person ever. Which is unsurprising, since she's a really hot girl. Therefore her one goal in life is to make her hot girlfriends jealous, no matter what it takes. Would Amy really stoop so low as to frame Nick for murder just to make her hot girlfriends jealous? If you don't know the answer, then you haven't hung out with enough really hot girls. There's GO, Nick's sister. Go makes out with Nick a lot, but don't get the wrong idea: they are NOT having sex. (Although they do get to third base once in a while.)There's RAND and MARYBETH, Amy's parents, whose "Idiotic Amy" book series chronicles the embarrassing moments of Idiotic Amy, a girl who looks suspiciously like Amy and does embarrassing things suspiciously like things Amy has done. The books have been a huge success, with millions of girls worldwide buying volumes like "Idiotic Amy Wets The Bed" and "Idiotic Amy and the Guy She Had Sex With and Never Called Her Again".There's DESI COLLINGS, who's been stuck in the friend zone with Amy since kindergarten. Desi still hopes that one day Amy will come around and want to take things to another level, but tragically, he fails to realize that no guy ever escapes from the friend zone. And don't forget BONEY and GILPIN, the detectives investigating Amy's disappearance. They strongly suspect the "crime scene" in Nick's living room is fake, because it's pretty hard for a grand piano to flip upside down accidentally. With every page of GONE BITCH the tension builds:Will Nick go to jail? Will Amy ever return? Will Nick ever get over his diarrhea from eating a search volunteer's Frito pie? You'll want to keep reading to find out what happens, but you might not be able to stop laughing long enough to do so!Before you see the movie, read the book...that makes fun of the movie!Get GONE BITCH today!

This book proposes an innovative conceptual framework to explore cultural organizations at a multilateral level and cultural mediators as key figures in cultural and institutionalization processes. Specifically, it analyzes the role of Ibero-American mediators in the institutionalization of Hispanic and Lusophone cultures in the first half of the 20th century by means of two institutional networks: PEN (the non-governmental writer’s association) and the International Institute of Intellectual Cooperation (predecessor to UNESCO). Attempting to combine cultural and global history, sociology, and literary studies, the book uses an analytical focus on intercultural networks and cultural transfer to investigate the multiple activities and roles that these mediators and cultural organizations set in motion. Literature has traditionally studied major figures and important centers of cultural production, but other regions and localities also played a crucial role in the development of intellectual cooperation. This book reappraises the place of Ibero-America in international cultural relations and retrieves the lost history of key secondary actors. The book will appeal to scholars from international relations, global and cultural history, sociology, postcolonial Studies, world and comparative literature, and New Hispanisms. Starting with the groundbreaking 1981 exhibit called "Volumen I," New Art of Cuba provided the first comprehensive look at the works of the first generation of Cuban artists completely shaped by the 1959 revolution. This revised edition includes a new epilogue that discusses developments in Cuban art since the book's publication in 1994, including the exodus of artists in the early 1990s, the effects of the new dollar economy on the status of artists, and the shift away from socialist themes to more personal concerns in the artists' works. Twenty-four new color plates augment the more than 200 b&w illustrations of the original volume.
