Thirteen-year-old Jimmy Farrell is kind, compassionate, and enthusiastic. His adventurous nature takes him all over the wooded mountains surrounding his home and guides him to a number of extraordinary discoveries. It's on one of these treks along the nearby stream that Jimmy finds a strange flower he's never seen before. Taking a flower, bulb and all back to a local American Indian, Jo-Pac, Jimmy learns that he's found a patch of Magic Red Ring flowers, created by an ancient Takoda Indian medicine man. As Jimmy listens to Jo-Pac weave a tale of history, trial, and magic, he realizes that he's being presented a choice: he can either embark on a magical adventure fraught with greater peril than he's ever faced, or he can stay home and avoid the hazards of the mystical world that lays just a Red Ring flower bulb away. As Jimmy and his friend Tommy set off on an adventure, only time will tell what dangers they'll encounter and whether they'll escape with their lives.

The perfect series for kids who loved THE LEMONADE WAR series and are ready for more mysteries! Edgar Award Nominee for Best Mystery! "With wit, cunning, snappy dialogue and superior math skills, The Red Blazer Girls represent the best of girl-detectives while still feeling relatable and real. Nancy Drew would be right at home with this group." -- Huffington Post's 15 Greatest Kid Detectives List It all began with The Scream. And ended with . . . well, if we told you that, it wouldn’t be a mystery! But in between The Scream and The Very Surprising Ending, three friends find themselves on a scavenger hunt set up for a girl they never met, in search of a legendary ring reputed to grant wishes. Are these sleuths in school uniforms modern-day equivalents of Nancy, Harriet, or Scooby? Not really, they’re just three nice girls who decide to help out a weird lady, and end up hiding under tables, tackling word puzzles and geometry equations, and searching rather moldy storage rooms for “the stuff that dreams are made of” (that’s from an old detective movie). Oh, and there’s A Boy, who complicates things. As boys often do. Intrigued? The Red Blazer Girls offers a fun, twisty adventure for those who love mystery, math (c’mon, admit it!), and a modest measure of mayhem. Michael Beil, a New York City high school English teacher and life-long mystery fan, delivers a middle-grade caper that's perfect for middle-grade readers who have finished THE LEMONADE WAR series and are ready for more advanced mysteries!

Mai-Thu Perret (*1976 in Geneva, where she lives and works) studied at Cambridge University and the Whitney Independent Study Program, New York. The first body of works she developed is entitled "The Crystal Frontier" (1999-): a series that comprises text and objects, which she describes as either the hypothetical production of a group of women living in autarchy in the desert of New Mexico, or the materialization of the principles that shape their everyday life. Investigating our relationships to common objects found in contemporary art, design spaces, and everyday shops, the artist engages with the consequences and changing realities of utopian thinking as it becomes incorporated into capitalism's mainstream. The book includes most of her projects so far, introduced by short captions she has written, as well as newly commissioned essays by Elisabeth Lebovici and Diedrich Diederichsen. In 2010-2011 Mai-Thu Perret had solo exhibitions at UMMA in Ann Arbor, the Aargauer Kunsthaus in Aarau, the Mamco in Geneva, the Haus Konstruktiv in Zurich, and the Magasin in Grenoble. Debut novelist Kiki Hamilton takes readers from the gritty slums and glittering ballrooms of Victorian London to the beguiling but menacing Otherworld of the Fey in this spellbinding tale of romance, suspense, and danger. The year is 1871, and Tiki has been making a home for herself and her family of orphans in a deserted hideaway adjoining Charing Cross Station in central London. Their only means of survival is by picking pockets. One December night, Tiki steals a ring, and sets off a chain of events that could lead to all-out war with the Fey. For the ring belongs to Queen Victoria, and it binds the rulers of England and the realm of Faerie to peace. With the ring missing, a rebel group of faeries hopes to break the treaty with dark magic and blood—Tiki's blood. Unbeknownst to Tiki, she is being watched—and protected—by Rieker, a fellow thief who suspects she is involved in the disappearance of the ring. Rieker has secrets of his own, and Tiki is not all that she appears to be. Her very existence haunts Prince Leopold, the Queen's son, who is driven to know more about the mysterious mark that encircles her wrist. Prince, pauper, and thief—all must work together to secure the treaty...
