Our class advisors were Miss Fleming and Miss Head. We were proud of ourselves and worked hard to reach the Junior class, because we thought we would be more important. The next fall we entered school and took our seats in the Junior section. Oh! How great we felt. We were very happy that year because we were think ing of being Seniors the next year. We chose Mary Miller for president. Our class advisors were Miss Fleming and Mrs. Brown. We had a fine time. The most important event was the junior-senior Banquet, which was enjoyed by all present. Our Senior year has come. Some of us, I know are happy, although some may not. Be. This year we have been very fortunate in choosing Charles Ran kin for our president. Charles has made us a wonderful president. We were also fortunate in getting Miss Fleming and Miss Bobbitt for our class advisors. Miss Fleming has been with us for quite a while and we love her very much. This is Miss Bobbitt's first year, but we have loved her also from the very beginning. Simonton, of Statesville, and for the next twenty-three years was called Sim onton Female College. From 1875 to 1883 M_rs. E. Mu Grant was the presi dent. She 'was assisted by her sister, Miss Margaret Mitchell. Upon the death of Mrs. Grant, Mrs. Fannie Everett Walton served as president for eleven years. After her retirement the property would have been lost to the Presbyterian Church but for the noble and timely aid of Rev. J. B. Shearer. D.D. He pur chased the property in 1896. Repaired the building'and secured Captain J. B. Burwell to conduct the institution, which took the name at this time of States ville Female College.
