The Missed Mission of the Great Commission is discipleship, or as Jesus puts it: "teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:20). Thousands upon thousands of people have come to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ over the last four decades. Yet during the same period of time, the influence of Christianity on the American society has greatly diminished. There have been many converts but far fewer have become disciples whose lives testify the presence of Jesus. As Pastor Eberly shares about his years of ministry, he calls the church back to a New Testament paradigm of discipleship. He focuses on biblical principles, rather than programs because one size does not fit all. His book also points to practical ways in which these principles can be applied in whatever situation.

Created For God's Mission, is a prophetic call for the church to return to the mission going constitution of Christianity. Local churches must re-image faith and ministry in order to reach an age vastly different than the world of our forebears in the faith. The times have changed, but the Great Commission remains the same. The weakened condition among many local churches stems from a failure to understand and incarnate its basic God-given mission. According to Dr. Clarke, "Many churches need more than a tune-up, but rather a major overhaul: the oil of ministry has not been changed in decades, corrosive rust is eating away at the missional infrastructure, the gospel tires are suffering from dry rot, the gas tanks of worship are empty, the teaching gears are slipping, and the engine of leadership is out of COMMISSION." Jesus commissioned the Church for mission; God's mission! He gave the Church its purpose (Great Commission) and the power (Holy Spirit) needed to get it done! Carrying out God's mission through congregational mission centers will foster vital, healthy, growing churches. Dr. Clarke provides practical and relevant insights beneficial for church leaders who desire to cultivate mission-oriented congregations heaven bent on transforming the world. *** The Church is created for God's Mission! The identity of every Christian disciple is forever stamped by the missional identity of Jesus. Every disciple is a missionary called to God's mission. Every local church exists as a "mission outpost" of God's Kingdom. God is fashioning a Great Commission Church to reach a twenty-first century world! God's mission-driven Church is Spirit-storming its way into the twenty-first century, envisioning new realities that will transform the world. By combining a unique blend of first and twenty-first century patterns of discipleship, Dr. Clarke presents a refreshing ancient/future approach to carrying out the Great Commission in today's world! *** The church's only business is not to stay in business, but to stay in mission. The heart palpitations and fibrillations caused by the "double whammy" to the heart of Christianity [post-Christendom and post-modernity] make defibrillators like Dr. Holt Clarke's book all the more necessary. Dr. Clarke understands this new mission frontier for Christianity, and shows how we can reconfigure mission for a new world. -Dr. Leonard Sweet, Ph.D. E. Stanley Jones Chair of Evangelism at Drew University and best-selling author. Dr. Clarke's heart burning passion for Christ and brilliant outlook toward the future of the Christian Church make this book exceptionally eminent. In addition, his globally connected ministerial practices such as in South Korea, clearly proves the viability of his vision for the twenty-first century church. -Dr. Younglae Kim, Ph.D. Associate Professor of Christian Education at the Methodist Theological Seminary in Seoul, South Korea.

"David Bosch's Transforming Mission, now available in over a dozen languages, is widely recognized as an historic and magisterial contribution to the study of mission. Examining the entire sweep of Christian tradition, he shows how five paradigms have historically encapsulated the Christian understanding of mission and then outlines the characteristics of an emerging postmodern paradigm dialectically linking the transcendent and imminent dimensions of salvation. In this new anniversary edition, Darrel Guder and Martin Reppenhagen explore the impact of Bosch s work and the unfolding application of his seminal vision." --

Business as mission has emerged as a significant new model for mission in the twenty-first century. Today's globalized economy has created strategic opportunities for Christian business enterprises in some of the most unlikely corners of the world. In this landmark book, economist Steve Rundle and missiologist Tom Steffen offer their paradigm for the convergence of business and missions—the Great Commission Company. Such companies intentionally create businesses in strategic locations, pursuing profits while remaining unabashedly Christian in their purpose. By establishing authentic businesses that employ local workers among the least-reached peoples of the world, they contribute to the economic health of the immediate community and also provide avenues for both physical and spiritual ministry. In an era where multinational corporations have global influence and impact, the Great Commission Company opens up new possibilities for missions-minded entrepreneurs and businesspeople who want to change the world to the glory of God. This revised and expanded edition provides new and updated case studies of Great Commission Companies in diverse contexts around the world.

Post-Christendom Studies publishes research on the nature of Christian identity and mission in the contexts of post-Christendom. Post-Christendom refers to places, both now and in the past, where Christianity was once a significant cultural presence, though not necessarily the dominant religion. Sometimes “Christendom” refers to the official link between church and state. The term “post-Christendom” is often associated with the rise of secularization, religious pluralism, and multiculturalism in western countries over the past sixty years. Our use of the term is broader than that however. Egypt for example can be considered a post-Christendom context. It was once a leading center of Christianity. “Christendom” moreover does not necessarily mean official public and dominant religion. For example, under Saddam Hussein, Christianity was probably a minority religion, but, for the most part, Christians were left alone. After America deposed Saddam, Christians began to flee because they became a persecuted minority. In that sense, post-Saddam Iraq is an experience of post-Christendom—it is a shift from a cultural context in which Christians have more or less freedom to exercise their faith to one where they are persecuted and/or marginalized for doing so.

"40 Questions About the Great Commission is an indispensable text for any pastor, professor, or student who cares about the Christian mission. In it, a biblical scholar, missiologist, and seminary president join forces to answer every question you've ever asked—or never asked—about our Lord’s parting commission to his disciples. Substantive, lucid, and compelling." --Bruce Ashford, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary

"The church has one job. It is called the Great Commission. Every Christian soldier should know the who, the what, the why, and the where of the marching orders left by our Lord and Commander-in-Chief, and this book does just that in an engaging and encouraging way. Read it and then get on with it!" --James Merritt, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary

"This book is a succinct and at the same time wide-ranging exposition of the commission of Jesus given to the disciples and thus to the church to proclaim the gospel far and wide. The authors elucidate the meaning of key passages in Scripture and thus present the geographical scope, the theological content, and important historical parameters of the mission of the church. This book deserves to be read by every Christian believer committed to the glory of God in all the world and to the proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ." --Eckhard J. Schnabel, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary
