There was a very holy Carmelite priest named Simon Stock. Simon was given a beautiful gift called the Brown Scapular. This gift was given to him from the Blessed Virgin Mary as a sign of the great love she has for all her children. This book will teach children about the Brown Scapular and the benefits received by wearing it. Many miracles have occurred because of the Brown Scapular. In addition, children will have fun coloring the rosary beads while learning the Rosary Prayer. This book is an educational tool for parishes, catechist teachers, and families to help children in their spiritual growth. It is very easy to read and is suited for first through fourth grades.

By the time he was 12, St. Simon Stock knew his vocation was to be a hermit; he began a life of prayer and sacrifice in a little shrine he had made inside a giant oak tree near his home in England. He spent years there, and people came from all over to ask for his prayers. Then, after a vision of Our Lady, St. Simon went to the Holy Land, where he became a Brother of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mt. Carmel, a Carmelite. But when the pagan Turks overran the Holy Land-burning and destroying-many of the brothers left for Europe, to begin new monasteries. St. Simon was sent back to England to be in charge of all the Carmelites there. Poor St. Simon! The Carmelites in England had many troubles-the strange food, climate and language, ridicule from people, lack of vocations, and even trouble because of their habit. One day when St. Simon had prayed for hours about these troubles, Our Lady appeared to him again, this time holding out a Carmelite work apron, or scapular, and promising, "Whoever dies wearing this scapular shall never see eternal fire"-that is, shall not go to Hell. Soon many people began wearing a miniature version of the Carmelite Brown Scapular underneath their regular clothes. Our Lady was very pleased, and many centuries later she appeared at Fatima holding just such a scapular. Thus did she confirm the marvelous message and gift she had given to St. Simon Stock so many years before.

This delightful rhyming book introduces Catholic children to the Blessed Virgin Mary in a fun and simple way—through her clothes! When Our Lady lived in Nazareth two thousand years ago, she was very poor and probably didn’t have many nice things to wear. But now that she’s in Heaven, she has an enormous mansion. And in that mansion she has an incredibly beautiful wardrobe filled with a great variety of dresses, veils, slippers, sashes, robes, rings and crowns. Over the centuries, Our Lady has visited the people of Earth many times. On each of these occasions she has dressed very differently. Our Lady’s Wardrobe tells the story of some of her most famous apparitions, highlighting the clothes she wore and the things she did. By reading this book, children will not only learn about the Mother of God, but will also learn the main purpose of her life—to love and serve her son, Jesus Christ, and to lead others to do the same.

Friar Jack Wintz wants you to know--the Bible gives us many clues that we will be with our pets in heaven for eternity! "Our God is a God of overflowing love, goodness, and beauty who is ready to give over everything to those he loves. This goodness is reflected in the whole family of creation. When God says of any creature, whether human or nonhuman, that it is good or very good, it's not a simple matter of moral goodness. The creature also has an inherent goodness and beauty--a beauty that reflects God, who is beauty itself"
