While the friendly associations with the young men and women whose names appear upon these pages made our task most pleasant, there is another and greater reason for our keen delight in preparing the material for the laurel. We have been impressed with the fact that many of the names presented herein will become familiar to all of the people of the state and nation in the years to come. The training received at' Mars Hill by those already so greatly endowed with native ability gives ab solute assurance that the students of 1933 will also be called into public service. The spiritual training received here will be in demand in the New Day, rather than the military training that once was considered essential.
