Increasing dose of nitrogen fertiliser were shown to be associated with significant increase in crude protein. Higher dose of nitrogen fertiliser was also associated with increase in lignin content. Nonet effect of nitrogen fertiliser on in vitro true digestability was noted. Structure carbohydrates (NDF), ADF cellulose and hemi cellulose contents were not affected by increasing dose of fertiliser. As the plant advances in maturity a significant increase in structural carbohydrate and significant decrease in crude protein concents and in vitro true digestablity was recorded. Maximum decrease in in vitro true digestability and maximum increase in lignin formation was observed after 99 days of sowing i, e after boot stage could be considered as proper harvesting stage for maximum nutritive value. The DCP and TDN content on dry matter basis was estimated as 4.43 and 66.54 percent respectivel.
