The different dimensions used to define organizational effectiveness in IT industry are employee morale, organizations competitive position, customer satisfaction, management satisfaction, ability to introduce organizational change, market share of the firm. It is better to use transformational leadership style in most cases but sometimes autocratic style can also be used. Autocratic leadership style should be used when the employee is young/fresh in the industry. They actually need direct guidance and concrete explanation about task.

This had become necessary due to the fact that available literature on the subject matter lacked precision in terms of the specific leadership style and strategy which could better be employed to improve performance in the chosen area of study. A field survey (by means of questionnaires) was conducted in Accra, involving 60 CEOs and Senior managers drawn from 10 organizations, which were randomly sampled for the study. In addition, a time series data from 2008 to 2013 on sales, profits before tax and employment from the 10 organizations were collected to develop performance indices for the organizations. Regression and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were then run to examine the relationship between leadership, strategy and organizational performance. The study revealed that leadership and business strategy statistically and significantly impacted on organizational performance but strategy had the greater influence. Specifically, the paper is aimed at defining the relationship between the leadership style and a certain unit performance. To this objective, the first chapter introduces the reader to the leadership concept, shows its importance in the daily life and its correlations with the HR field. The theoretical insights into the leadership phenomena and its effects on the business are provided by the paper's state of the art. Subsequently, the chapter of methodology presents the objective of the research and briefly the chosen company that the study is conducted on. It also defines the variables and describes the process of data collection and the participants. The chosen company is NN Group Romania, specifically, the NN subsidiary in Brasov, from which one of its units was empirically analysed. The analysed leadership styles are transformational and transactional types as I consider them to be the fundamentals of the styles. They serve as independent variables in the study. The SPSS software tests these variables for a potential correlation with the dependent variable, which is unit performance. The data was provided by twelve participants, consisting of one leader and eleven followers, who answered an online survey constructed in Sosci Survey. Further, the chapter of practical approach starts with the explicit description of the company. Moreover, in order to generate numerical values for describing the relation between the variables, a linear regression model was implemented and interpreted. This chapter ends with recommendations to the company after proving that there are two positive correlations between the leadership styles and the unit performance in the chosen unit of NN Romania. The topics of leadership and strategy have attracted considerable interest from both academics and practitioners. Much of the interest in the two areas is based on explicit and implicit claims that both leadership and strategy are linked to organisational performance. This paper examines the nature of the relationship between participative leadership style and performance, and authoritative leadership style and performance. The study hypothesised that authoritative leadership style leads to achievement of the objectives of a strategic plan (hypothesis 1), and that participative leadership style leads to achievement of the objectives of a strategic plan (hypothesis 2). The research was a quantitative study. Data was collected by means of a questionnaire, which was emailed to 200 randomly selected respondents. 48 responses were received. This represents a total response rate of 24%. Of the total 48 responses, 10 were eliminated from the study due to errors. A linear regression method was used to test the hypotheses. The regression analyses have revealed that participative leadership style and performance, and authoritative leadership style and performance are not related. The two variables each explain less than 1% of the variance in performance. As a result, both null hypotheses were not rejected. The paper concludes with a number of implications for future research studies.

Five basic parts of the contemporaryorganization (the operating core, the strategic apex, the middle line, thetechnostructure, and the support staff), and five theories of how it functions(i.e., as a system characterized by formal authority, regulated flows, informalcommunication, work constellations, and ad hoc decision processes) aretheorized. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between the leadership styles of black top managers, employee commitment and business performance in state-owned enterprises. With the transformation policies implemented in a post-democratic South Africa, the appointment of black managers into top management positions, in state-owned South African organisations, came with negative connotations and stereotypes attached to African leadership. These connotations have led to a concern about the ability of black managers to provide effective leadership in organisations. Whilst it is critical to appreciate that the business performance of an organisation is influenced by a cocktail of factors, indeed, leadership capability is often primarily questioned when strategic objectives are not achieved. It is for these reasons that the objective of this study sought to identify the prevalent leadership styles displayed by black top managers and to determine if these styles have any association with employee commitment and the business performance of State-owned Enterprises (SOEs). The study also explored the possible role of span of control in moderating the relationship between leadership styles and employee commitment. The study is grounded on the positivism philosophy. A deductive approach was employed to formulate the hypotheses so as to respond to the objectives of this study. A non-probability sampling method, specifically the judgemental sampling technique, was used to select black top managers in the SOEs. A survey method was employed to collect primary data in a cross-sectional manner from 232 direct reports of 38 black top managers in the state-owned enterprises in South Africa. The information collected was complemented by secondary data about the span of control of black top managers and the business performance of their units. Statistical analysis of collected data revealed that respondents perceived black top managers to predominantly display a transformational leadership style coupled with a contingent reward facet of the transactional leadership style. It was also observed that the transformational leadership style displayed a relationship with the affective commitment of employees. The study also found that as the span of control increases, the management by exception (Active) facet of transactional leadership style moderates the relationship between leadership style and organisational commitment. The findings of this study contribute to the building of a body of knowledge on African leadership within the context of management literature. This is owing to the fact that it provides invaluable insight to the leadership behaviour displayed by black top managers in SOEs within a South African context. While caution on attempts to generalise the studyaÌ22́Ơ4́Øs findings is necessary, in the studied population, top managers in South African SOEs and indeed their organisations may benefit from displaying a transformational leadership style as it lends itself to employee commitment. Further, the study also provides insights on moderating effect that span of control has in the mix of leadership style and employee commitment. The study contributes to theory and practice in the territory of leadership in an African context by highlighting the predominant usage of the transformational leadership style among black top CEOs in SOEs in South Africa, perhaps owing to the societal premium placed on the unique Ubuntu notion in South Africa. Besides this, the study also empirically demonstrates the link between the Management by Exception facet of the transactional leadership style and the affective commitment of employees. The implication of this finding is that black top managers SOEs that invest in the development practices coincident, particularly when spans of control are high, can engender levels of commitment in their employees that would prove beneficial to the organisation.
