The subject, it will be seen, might easily have been expanded into a large volume; but it has been my aim to keep it in as concise a form as possible, consistently with such a degree of completeness as might suffice to bring it fairly before the reader. Such as it is, I send forth my little book, not without anxiety, but in the hope that, under the blessing of God, it may do some good.
