Aleister Crowley and Dion Fortune were two of the most controversial and powerful occultists of the 20th century. Crowley was regarded by many as a creature of the night, albeit one whose soul was streaked with brilliance; Fortune was viewed as one of the Shining Ones, who nevertheless wrestled with her own darkness. Between them they produced some of the best books on magick ever written, and their influence upon contemporary magicians has been profound. Written by occult scholar Alan Richardson, this unusual and provocative book draws upon unpublished material to reveal little-known aspects of Crowley and Fortune's relationship, and their role as harbingers of sweeping cultural changes--foreshadowing the women's movement, the sexual revolution, and 1960s counterculture--as well as other surprising influences upon our present culture.

The Nako temple complex from the 12th century is an extraordinary testimony of early Tibetan Buddhism not anymore preserved in today’s Tibet. Endangered by the rough environment, improper treatment and frequent earthquakes, the outstanding monuments were re-discovered by scholars from Austrian universities in the 1980s. The transdisciplinary research project carried out over more than 20 years led to in-depth studies, preservation and model-like conservation of the temples and their artworks.

Despite Mongolia's centrality to East Asian history and culture, Mongols themselves have often been seen as passive subjects on the edge of the Qing formation or as obedient followers of so-called "Tibetan Buddhism," peripheral to major literary, religious, and political developments. But in fact Mongolian Buddhists produced multi-lingual and genre-bending scholastic and ritual works that profoundly shaped historical consciousness, community identification, religious knowledge, and practices in Mongolian lands and beyond. In Sources of Mongolian Buddhism, a team of leading Mongolian scholars and authors have compiled a collection of original Mongolian Buddhist works--including ritual texts, poetic prayers and eulogies, legends, inscriptions, and poems--for the first time in any European language.

Beloved master, visionary, poet, and revealer of profound spiritual treasures, His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche was a paramount figure in the history of twentieth-century Tibet. He worked closely with H.H. the Fourteenth Dalai Lama to reinvigorate Tibetan culture and spiritual practice following the loss of their homeland. Nyingma masters and devotees, both ordained and lay, unanimously appointed him Supreme Head of the Nyingma School of Tibetan Buddhism, and he served in this capacity until his passing in 1987. He wrote over two dozen volumes of poetry, music, history, philosophy, and most importantly revealed and restored sacred termas of Guru Rinpoche. In addition, he assembled and published texts which might otherwise have been lost and delivered unprecedented numbers of empowerments and teachings to hundreds of thousands of individuals. Khenpo Rinpoche had the great privilege of being a close personal attendant and secretary to His Holiness from 1980 through 1983. On two occasions, when they were alone, His Holiness told Khenpo Tsewang about the life of his father and in great detail about how His Holiness himself had taken rebirth. This book is the product of everything His Holiness told Khenpo Rinpoche, and also what Khenpo Rinpoche learned about him from his vajra brothers and sisters.

A Drop from the Marvelous Ocean of History, written by Lelung Tuklu Rinpoche XI, the current reincarnation of Lelung Jedrung, chronicles the history of this important lineage. Using varied Tibetan resources and biographies, Rinpoche begins with the source of the reincarnations, Olkha Jedrung, known as Lelung Pema Zhepai Dorje, who was the first human manifestation of the Buddhist deity Vajrapani, the powerful Lord of Secrets. He is the compiler and protector of the profound Tantras, which are the ultimate vehicle of the Buddha’s teachings. From the origin of the lineage, Rinpoche moves through time until the mid 1900s, tracing the lives of each Lelung reincarnation, beginning with Lhodrak Namkha Gyaltsen, who was born in 1326, and moving through to his predecessor Thubten Lungtok Choekyi Wangchuk, who passed away in 1962. This wonderful compilation will be a valuable resource about this essential part of Tibetan history.
