This historic book may have numerous typos and missing text. Purchasers can usually download a free scanned copy of the original book (without typos) from the publisher. Not indexed. Not illustrated. 1920 edition. Excerpt: ... the Master directed to those who came seeking healing at his hands, served to get the patient's mind and talk away from his symptoms and sensations and down to his actual need. The answers showed whether his mind functioned properly, and its ability or otherwise to come down to the real issue at once, and gave the healer ground for an intelligent diagnosis, as to the nature and gravity of the trouble, and the particular form of treatment to be administered, and to give a reasonable prognosis or forecast as to the progress of the cure. These questions of the Master during his healing work were in the nature of a confessional, and constituted in fact a self-revelation, essential to his own healing work, and for that matter indispensable in all rational healing procedure. It resolved itself into a sort of primitive Psycho-analysis without which healing becomes in most cases a mere chance, with the chances largely against success. Nervousness under its various designations of Neurasthenia, Psychasthenia, etc., all attended more or less by the hydra-headed phenomena of hysteria, has come to be a national disease. There is the menace of a race of neurasthenics. The various functional and nervous disorders can usually be traced to wrong mental habits, to shock, to strain of long continued application without proper diversion, to pre-natal influences, to repressed impulses and other similar causes. These all leave a deep impressionon the subconscious side of the mind, and some time sooner or later, under conditions favoring them, they rise up into an expression whose strangeness of form makes them unrecognizable, and whose origin is forgotten, and they assume large proportion and power through the very mystery with which they are clothed. Many...

God's Laws of Healing for Spirit, Soul and Body is a publication dedicated to the belief and faith in Christianity with the main purpose of inspiring similar passions in others. Through faith, the book argues, all healing can begin as belief in God allows for you to receive the healing of God. This book aims to reveal "the natural and spiritual laws by which all manner of disease of body, soul and spirit are healed through faith in the word of God." The book contains several chapters that explore Christianity and faith, and how these concepts can be utilized to promote personal health and to overcome disease. The book also tackles specific questions and offers answers to medical concerns such as "cigarette habits," "scurvy," and "the salt habit." In addition, the text offers a series of lectures (to be read or shared) and a variety of lessons to explore that pertain to the subject, as well as a detailed exploration of some more controversial topics such as "the devil's miracles" and proof of more than one hundred cases of disease ostensibly healed via the power of God. Whether you're a believer of Christianity or not, God's Laws of Healing for Spirit, Soul and Body is an interesting or entertaining read. This book may be fascinating for individuals intrigued by early Christian thoughts and practices, as this book provides wonderful insight into the power of faith. This book can also be for readers who wonder about early medical practices, as this book offers an entertaining look at medical beliefs. Excerpt from The Grace of Healing We have no other foundation than the word of God for our faith in divine healing. We need no other. Every unbiased mind must see it in the word of God. Testimony is good, and often gives a divine impulse to our faith in the living promises; but the word of God alone is the Rock upon which our faith must stand. Every individual must find this sure foundation for his feet, so that in every trial his faith may rest secure, and he may triumphantly say, I am built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner-stone. Praise God! We are in the midst of all the gospel privileges. Let us open our hearts toward God, and through his excel lent living Word let us drink in the streams of unceas ing blessings. Our spiritual and physical life may be deluged with grace. The throne of grace is accessi ble, and provides every need for soul and body. We use the term grace of healing because it is the favor of God shown toward us in his merciful pro vision for the health of his people. The health cove nant with Israel was but the foreshadowing of this grace, which should be revealed through the gospel of Christ, which is extended to all who meet the condi tions of redemption, and through faith become heirs according to the promise. Excerpt from Divine Science and Healing As the light-house throws its beams to guide the mari ner through trackless waters, so upon the world's waste, this book is sent out to warn the wayfarer from time and place, and to guide him into the secure peace and rest of Infinite Love. May this chart of Divine realization of Truth and illumination guide all pilgrims on the path of life into the harbor of Infinite Being. As the light shining from the light-house warns from danger and lights the way into safe harbor, so the Truth set forth in this book of lessons will be seen to reveal what the true light is That lighteth every man that cometh into the world which makes clear the way to Christ consciousness. The purpose oi this book is to teach the principle of Unity, which alone makes clear the true relation existing between humanity and God, and the purpose of God mani festing in humanity; to point out the direct and sure way of safety and rest. May the contents of this book illumine those who study it, with a knowledge of Truth which to know makes free, and enable them to demonstrate health, success and happiness. So will it be. Natural science deals with effects in Nature's realm, and treats of the relation of things to things. Its theory is, that various and general results proceed from particular causes, which causes are themselves results. The universal Law of Creation, or Science of Expression, as taught and strictly adhered to in Divine Science is as essential to a perfect understanding of the detail of Science as is the Statement of Being essential to its perfect solution and demonstration. To understand the height and depth and breadth of Truth expressed in these pages, it is essential that the student place him or herself at one with Infinite Omni present Spirit, and then know that the teaching has been formulated from the consciousness and realization of this oneness. A consciousness of the way creative power expresses itself in creation is also a knowledge of the power expressed in the Spoken Word; of how the Word becomes flesh and dwells among us and is full of grace and truth. Every year thousands of God's servants leave the ministry convinced they are failures. Years ago, in the midst of a crisis of faith, Kent Hughes almost became one of them. But instead he and his wife Barbara turned to God's Word, determined to learn what God had to say about success and to evaluate their ministry from a biblical point of view. This book describes their journey and their liberation from the "success syndrome"-the misguided belief that success in ministry means increased numbers. In today's world it is easy to be seduced by the secular thinking that places a number on everything. But the authors teach that true success in ministry lies not in numbers but in several key areas: faithfulness, serving, loving, believing, prayer, holiness, and a Christlike attitude. Their thoughts will encourage readers who grapple with feelings of failure and lead them to a deeper, fuller understanding of success in Christian ministry. This book was originally published by Tyndale in 1987 and includes a new preface.
