This study was designed to observe the benefits of music on student math anxiety. Music has its own motivational benefits on students. Taking advantage of the use of music in the math classroom allowed connections to be made and memories to be formed that assisted in lessening stress about math. Music was used in activities as a bonding element among classmates. Songs were used as memory triggers for the steps in multiplying fractions. The music assisted in keeping students focused, relaxed and comfortable in the classroom. Daily math review forms allowed me to track student opinions about the involvement of music. A pre/post questionnaire proved that students felt music had a positive effect on their relationship with math.
