This book represents research conducted over a two-year period on the politico-diplomatic relations between Italy and the United States in the mid-Sixties and Seventies. Based on conspicuous archival materials from Italian, American and British sources, and on a great amount of secondary literature, it traces an accurate panorama of the Italian political, social and diplomatic developments – from the student and worker protests of 1968, to the killing of Aldo Moro in 1978; from the behind-the-scenes bargains between parties, to the fear of the Communist Party’s growth – during the Premiership of the conservative Christian Democrat, Mariano Rumor (1915–1990). The volume includes an innovative comparison between Rumor’s basic choices of foreign policy and those of the duo Nixon and Kissinger. From here arises the book’s title, where the ‘dove’ is represented by Rumor, a fervent Catholic, a firm anti-Communist, a reliable Atlantist and an indefatigable Europeanist; while the ‘eagle’ is embodied by the Republican Administrations of Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford.

An Imperious Captor Heading a thundering cavalcade of richly dressed Moorish soldiers, Lord Hassan commands attention with just one glance from his deep black eyes. And with one look, he knew that he had to have the chestnut-haired beauty who returned his stare with such bold, sensual defiance. A Willful Captive Fascinated by the enigmatic horseman, spirited Sarita is swept up by the arrogant stranger and carried off to his mountaintop palace. Enslaved to this mighty lord, Sarita's untamed and passionate nature swiftly makes a prisoner of Hassan's yearning heart. But their powerful love could topple a vast empire... and in doing so, endanger the future of this destined pair.

What is spirituality? For some, it means nothing more than vague self-improvement pulled from the latest best-selling self-help book. For others, it refers to some generic religious practice. Shedding life-giving light on what often remains ill-defined and unclear, this book sets forth a vision of biblical spirituality—“a renewed sense of the momentousness of being alive in God’s world as God’s people are led by God’s Spirit through God’s Word unto godly, Christlike character.” With careful exegetical work and theological reflection, the contributors—pastors and scholars such as Christopher W. Morgan, Paul R. House, Nathan A. Finn, and Gregg R. Allison—address spirituality from the perspective of the Bible, exploring topics such as the Trinity, divine sovereignty and human responsibility, the “already” and “not yet,” and the church. This book also addresses practical questions about spirituality related to the workplace, disciplines of the body, and more.
