Why speak about love in all its facets? Love is a diamond—we cannot fathom its depths. By a combination of all its facets, we hope to reach a vision of true love. I realize that all people are looking for love so they can say life is beautiful. Love appears in different forms, different versions, different ages, and different cultures. It is present everywhere, but transparent, like wind and water. Could it be an element of nature that feeds us daily? Everybody knows that when we fall in love, we just need fresh water to survive. Love is the word we use the most to express a feeling of satisfaction. We use it more to express our personal sensations than those inspired in somebody else. This is not our fault; we are taught growing up to hide our feelings and say things halfway, so as not to shock. That's what it means to live in community. Society attempts to control people who have chosen to live inside it—to control love—by imposing rules that restrict behavior. Sex is one of its priorities. In the olden days, homosexuality was a normal sexual behavior; it was tolerated. At the time of Kings, incest was accepted. Each period imposes sexual taboos, and as a consequence, nowadays we live with so many taboos we don't understand them in depth. To my mind, taboos are designed to manage the general interest and safeguard society. I also think that they have to arise themselves from a loving sentiment.

The Four Loves is a 1960 book by C. S. Lewis which explores the nature of love from a Christian and philosophical perspective through thought experiments. The book was based on a set of radio talks from 1958 which had been criticized in the U.S. at the time for their frankness about sex. C.S. Lewis examines storge or empathy love; philia, friendship love; eros, romantic love; and agape, or God love. Excerpt: "GOD is love," says St. John. When I first tried to write this book I thought that his maxim would provide me with a very plain highroad through the whole subject. I thought I should be able to say that human loves deserved to be called loves at all just in so far as they resembled that Love which is God."

An acclaimed philosopher offers a systematic mapping of the various facets of love. In his widely acclaimed trilogy The Nature of Love, Irving Singer traced the development of the concept of love in history and literature from the Greeks to the twentieth century. In this second volume of his Meaning in Life trilogy, Singer returns to the subject of his earlier work, exploring a different approach. Without denying his previous emphasis on the role of imagination and creativity, in this book Singer investigates the ability of them both to make one's life meaningful. A “systematic mapping” of the various facets of love (including sexual love, love in society, and religious love), The Pursuit of Love is an extended essay that offers Singer's own philosophical and psychological theory of love. Rich in insight into literature, the history of ideas, and the complexities of our being, The Pursuit of Love is a thought-provoking inquiry into fundamental aspects of all human relationships.

Poets, theologians, romantics, scientists, and revolutionaries alike have explored the many facets of love. Judging by the wide use of the word “love” and the high praise it typically receives, we might think that philosophers have thoroughly analyzed love. But this is not the case. This book takes a step toward rectifying the neglect of a philosophical analysis of love. It brings together fifteen philosophical perspectives that explore some of love’s most important facets. Most of the essays have theistic or religious concerns in mind.

Shari Schreiber learned about healing people by having to surmount her own painful life experiences. Tenacious about her pursuit of wholeness and wellness, she invented tools in her mid-twenties to help her grow beyond mere survival and learn to thrive. She imparted these tools and methods to her clients for eighteen of the twenty-five years she was passionately dedicated to helping others repair themselves. Returning to school at forty-one, she’d hoped to legitimize the talents she’d always had, but found that experience lacking. Ms. Schreiber has not worked as a state-licensed professional, because in her view, “psychotherapy” or mind work never seemed to resolve or remedy human pain. Her own approach was extremely unconventional, unique and effective in contrast to other forms of intervention, even within the realm of addiction recovery. Having retired from her wellness practice in late 2017, she hopes to publish many more books that might help you gain clarity, wholeness, contentment, inner peace and joy.
