Wayne Jackson is a social action pastor who is leading his members, colleagues, and campus ministry students into being a Sanctuary Movement to bring undocumented political refugees into his church to protest the administration's decision to not follow the Refugee Act of 1980. They want their day in court to challenge the administration. They believe that administration pressure has been put on Federal Judges to not let them speak in court. For Wayne the Sanctuary Movement becomes conflict between "the cross and the gavel." His biggest clergy adversary is Danny Burns, a successful pastor of a church with five thousand members and a school with member-families only. What Wayne considers as his calling has cost him his marriage. He meets Joyce Barton on the beach. She is a single mom, a nurse, and a singer. They begin a romantic journey. TC Woolard, a retired Air Force veteran, owns Fox's Den and wants her to sing there. He dislikes all ministers.

In The Cross & The Gavel, Juanita boldly unfastens heaven's courtroom doors and walks the reader through the drama of authentic legal decision-making by God Himself. This book transports the reader to God's divine Court-where hearts stood on trial and souls were weighed in the balance-while a suspended Christ teetered between heaven and hell. In God's open Court, rogue angels appear, faithful angelic sentinels pull jury duty, judicial payback is shocking, and judicious women and just men make history. This book reveals the mysterious side of God's Court where a believer's legal rights can be enforced! Juanita offers a front-row seat to heaven's exciting legal forum as never seen before where the theatrical meets theology, the cross meets crimson, and the gavel meets the gravity of God's law and order.

"Reading The Auctioneer Bangs His Gavel, I had the sense of finding a poet I'd been looking for unawares: one who intertwines a survey of human sexuality (and gay sexuality at that) with theological questions; one who tackles ambitious poetic projects without sounding pretentious; one who writes fables using the ordinary materials of daily reality; one who balances the Jewish sources of the Western tradition with its Hellenic counterpart; one who knows how to be serious with the assistance of laughter; one who can tell a story and excerpt his own autobiography as a way of gaining larger perspectives on experience. 'No things but in ideas, ' seems to be his aesthetic motto, and that has served him well in his goal--to declare that we are free to follow our natures in the pursuit of happiness."--Alfred Corn

Manly Palmer Hall wrote this book at age twenty-one and self-published it later in his mid twenties. The book is pure conceptual truth without bogging ourselves down with the details. Great read for anyone who likes Joseph Campbell and wishes to follow up on the Power of Myth and get into the right-hand occult.
