Data taken with the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) during the 1992--1993 run of the Tevatron are used to measure the distribution of the center-of-mass angle between isolated prompt photons and the beam direction. The shape of the angular distribution for photon-jet events is found to differ from the predictions of NLO QCD.

The center-of-mass angular distribution of direct photon events, resulting from proton-antiproton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.8 TeV, as measured by the Collider Detector at Fermi lab (CDF) during the 1988-1089 experimental run, is presented. The direct photon events are identified primarily through the direct photon's characteristic isolation from other particles. The main source of background is from rare fragmentation of QCD partons into single isolated neutral mesons, which decay into two or more photons. The background is removed statistically by exploitation of tile expected difference in the resulting shower profiles. The resulting angular distribution for direct photons, in the transverse momentum range from 22 to 45 Ge V is found to agree favorably with the predictions of Quantum Cbromodynamics (QCD) for an interaction with a fermion (spin 1/2) propagator.

We present measurements of the inclusive[gamma][gamma] cross section (as a function of invariant mass and photon[epsilon][sub[tau]]), in p[bar p] collisions at[radical]s= 1.8 TeV, made using the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. The next is leading order (NLO) QCD prediction is found to be in good agreement with the data. The effects of invariant mass and diphoton balance cuts, which test the next-to-leading order contributions to the cross section, are investigated. We also compare the distribution of[kappa][sub[tau]] between samples of diphotons and highly electromagnetic jets, and find that the NLO QCD prediction models the shape of the[gamma][gamma][kappa][sub[tau]] distribution quite well.

The use of two-particle correlations coupled with a sophisticated method for identifying and removing decay photons has made it possible to further study the jet properties of these fragmentation photons, in the form of pout and root mean square jT. These results will help to constrain both the underlying theoretical description of direct photon production in p + p, and modifications expected in heavy ion collisions.

Proton-antiproton events collected with the CDF minimum-bias trigger at (square root)(s) = 1800 and 630 GeV are studied splitting the full event sample in a soft subsample of events with no energy clusters above 1.1 GeV and in the subsample of the remaining events. Detailed and precise analyses of the multiplicity and transverse momentum distributions as well as of the correlation of the average pt and of its dispersion with the multiplicity are performed for the two samples. Comparisons of the results and of their dependence from the center of mass energy show clear differences in their behaviors. The results support important and unexpected scaling properties of the soft sample.

The authors present preliminary results of a measurement of inclusive photon-charm production in {anti p}p collisions. Using data collected by the CDF experiment during the 1992--1993 Tevatron collider run, the authors have measured the inclusive photon-muon cross section, and estimated the decay-in-flight and punchthrough backgrounds. They compare the measured photon-muon cross section and photon E{sub T} spectrum to Pythia predictions for the charm Compton contribution.
