His body was cremated and the ashes were placed in Mount Auburn ceme tery, Cambridge. Through much of life he wore a mustache and pointed beard which, particularly after he turned gray, added to a distinguished appearance. It is safe to say that no one else had held such responsible positions in the two ex tremes of sensationalism and idealism in Ameri can journalism.
