We all encounter times of physical illness as well as of emotional, psychological, and spiritual distress and pain. We are all in need of healing-in every aspect of life. In this important new book, a physician specializing in preventive medicine integrates learnings from both science and religion to present a holistic approach to well being that is rooted in a new understanding of Christian principles-an approach that has already proven effective in countless lives. Using examples of people who have been healed, Dr. Bakken shows how stress (fear, anxiety, anger, guilt, depression, loneliness, and unforgiveness) contributes to disease, and how spiritual growth ("perfect love casts out fear") promotes health, healing, and wholeness. Both practical and inspiring, The Call to Wholeness is at once a convincing synthesis of several disciplines and an authentic witness to the healing power of Jesus Christ. It demonstrates that God is the author, renewer, and sustainer of all life, and the ultimate source of all healing. It challenges individuals, the Church, and the medical establishment to expand their view of reality in the context of a Christ-centered spirituality that can bring true and lasting wholeness to each and all of us.

Wholeness is about removing invisible boundaries from our lives that keep us from realizing our highest potential. In order to live an outer life without limits, we have to uncover and address the inner limitations that hide in our blind spots. This life-changing book explains that regardless of where you are in life, Wholeness will take you higher. Wholeness will elevate your sense of fulfillment in life, produce healthier, more rewarding relationships, and will position you for optimum success in every endeavor. International thought leader and pastor Touré Roberts explains we can't always choose the experiences that keep us from being whole, but we can take control of our lives today and bring healing to any broken area. Key chapters include an in-depth relationship guide titled "Two Halves Don't Make a Whole." "The Cracked Mirror" shows how unprocessed experiences can negatively shape our view of self, others, and the world around us. "Ghosts of the Past" gives powerful, practical tools for avoiding the traps of the past and ensuring that we enter into the amazing future that God has planned for us. Wholeness is filled with wisdom garnered from Touré's own life--raised by a single mom, narrowly escaping the trappings of inner-city life, and finding success in corporate America. His insight is further broadened by his role as founder of one of the most influential churches in the nation, with over fourteen years pastoring thousands of millennials, couples, families, and a diverse group of individuals. Wholeness will take you on a transformational journey that won't leave you the same. Concluding with a "Wholeness Test," Wholeness will help you track and maintain your progress while walking out your journey to your full potential.

Knowing and living up to the purpose that God has for each of us is a journey that must be acknowledged and worked toward. Quite often, God puts us on the journey even before we are aware and uses circumstances and people to point us to what that journey should be. Living in to our purpose provides true fulfillment in life. God began to reveal God's will for my life to promote health with a simple three-word prophecy to, "Keep on Running". It was through and while running that God revealed the importance for me to strive to remain fit and healthy and to encourage others of the importance to do the same. It did not take long for the reality of the difficulty of the task to become clear. Encouraging and making changes to improved health, even for Christians is a daunting task. The ills of a society that is and has been for generations geared toward causing sickness, especially for people of color, are hard to counteract. Poor health and illness is big business. Even with this realization, I hold on to the words of Jesus in Matthew 16: 18, "And I say unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it". I believe in the power of the church and the power of the pastors placed in those churches. If pastors can be encouraged, the pews can be encouraged. My Doctor of Ministry project allowed six local pastors to take time out of their busy schedules, a day and a half, to focus on their own individual health. They were assessed in areas to include physical, nutritional, emotional and spiritual health. They received individual recommendations of steps to take to improve their health in order be even more effective in their churches and communities. As pastors catch on to the need for intentional care of their health, they will share with others who will also become intentional of encouraging care for themselves, their families, friends, and communities. God will be glorified in the midst of it all!

In this time of ecological crisis, all that is holy calls us into a more intimate partnership with the diverse and beautiful beings of this earth. In Finding Our Way Home, Myke Johnson reflects on her personal journey into such a partnership and offers a guide for others to begin this path. Lyrically expressed, it weaves together lessons from a chamomile flower, a small bird, a copper beech tree, a garden slug, and a forest fern, along with insights from Indigenous philosophy, environmental science, fractal geometry, childhood Catholic mysticism, the prophet Elijah, fairy tales, and permaculture design. This eco-spiritual journey also wrestles with the history of our society's destruction of the natural world, and its roots in the original theft of the land from Indigenous peoples. Exploring the spiritual dimensions of our brokenness, it offers tools to create healing. Finding Our Way Home is a ceremony to remember our essential unity with all of life.

The idea of this book came about from real health experiences in our lives. We wanted to share those experiences from the viewpoint of the patient, Roger, and the caregiver, Louise, from the first diagnosis of "Cancer," to the final proclamation of "Cancer free." Louise and I both kept journals. Most of what is written came from those journals. Later chapters have to do with lessons we have learned about health, wholeness, and healing. Louise shares her thoughts on faith, forgiveness, healing, anger, and death. Our joint prayer is that those who may read this book will find hope for their wellness in these pages. God brings healing to our bodies and our lives in order that we may bring hope to others. We would not be able to share these experiences without wonderful Christian and skilled doctors, prayer partners, friends, and family, who have loved us though it all. The outward gestures of love, prayers, and God's Word brought us through this trial. Psalm 41:1-3 "Happy are those who are concerned for the poor; the LORD will help them when they are in trouble. The LORD will protect them and preserve their lives; he will make them happy in the land; he will not abandon them to the power of their enemies. The LORD will help them when they are sick and will restore them to health." Rev. Roger Glover has a BA in political science from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and a Masters in Theology from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. He has served on the board of the North East Arkansas Council on Family Violence for 8 years. He is presently a member of the Board of Directors for the Joshua House, which is a recovery ministry for men recovering from life-controlling issues. He has served for 52 years as a United Methodist Minister, presently pastoring the Redfield UMC. He and his wife, Louise, have served as a team in ministry. They have 2 daughters, a son-in-law, and 2 grandchildren.
